Election Ship
HQ Inititaive Post, Sid and Tony
Hello everyone,
Tony and I wanted to roll out an initiative that requires no changes to ByLaws or other rules and regs in STF but can have a great potential to help ships and mainly CO’s to assess their RP environment when things are going great and more so when they are not. Basically its an Assessment Form to assist CO’s gauge the health of their ship and pin point an area that needs attention. I have heard so many times about a ship not being healthy but no one has a metric to really pin point what exactly is the problem. More times than not there is just that sense that the ship needs this or that but nothing to really assist the CO to tell them exactly what and then allow them to concentrate on that issue. Think of it as a Vulnerability Assessment. More complex but still easy yet than a monthly report and much more specific. Its completely voluntary and more so than anything a resource for the CO or even a Fcomm etc…
Here is an example of how it might work.
On ships having problems coordinate with the CO to create a system of actionable data to set a matrix to help them on their ship. Something like a checklist. XO position- Overall efficiency
DH positions, GM, writing quality, number of post etc..in order to identify the areas that are needed instead of just saying I need more crew. If other ships are staffed well there may be a reason theirs is not.
This just an assessment example. Say Oed is having terrible posting rates and a minimal roster missing key positions. The CO can do an assessment by position and posting limits, basically the works. So in this case He/She or even a Fcomm can initiate a step by step assessment.
- How many times has the XO posted, how many times have I (CO) posted.
- How much OOC work have I done, how much IC. Same for XO.
- How has the roster looked over the last 4 weeks etc…Same people posting all the time etc…
- Review LOA’s. Average number. Too many etc..
- Review whose started threads vs those who just post into them.
There is a lot of ways to do it and the categories can be variable or set. The important thing here is see if there is a trend that can be identified and actions taken.
We could actually make it a worksheet for CO’s to use in order to assess the health of their ship? I know as a CO, I would definitely use it, and for CO’s who may be struggling or need something to actually focus their attention, this could be highly effective!
I am not making a set sheet right now simply because I would want to form a working group to hammer it out and then maybe put it in front of the Club to revise one more time. Then make it a resource. I personally do this myself but more so in my head. This is not as efficient as actually having a checklist and criteria to go along with it. That is why I would like to offer it as an initiative now and then move forward with it. It is also an example of how our ticket plans to have initiatives but not necessarily turn over the cart and mess with our current Bylaws, Rules and Regs. Just because we say we are for continuity does not mean we plan on doing nothing. I hope this is a good example to show you on how that actually is not the case. Thank you.
