Thank you for the opportunity to run for President and Vice President of STF. Both Anthony and myself have been members for a very long time. Each of us have dedicated a lot of time, effort and energy to the Club over the years. We are running for President and V.P. because we really do love the Club and the experience as members. STF is more than just a place to play a game. Its a family and like families we have good times and bad times. Like a family the ties that bind are always important and make the Club more than just a place for like minded people to play but a place for people to enjoy each others uniqueness and great writing skills. As long time CO’s we know that creating and maintaining a great RP and Club experience is important. It takes work and dedication and love and we believe our records in those areas speak well for themselves.

The overall guiding policy of this candidate team is to continue to guide STF toward a sustainable future. That is actually something to say since the Club has been here for over 20 years. One thing we should understand is that STF is a mature Club in the sense that its policy and procedures have been around, in one form or modifications thereof, for some time. They have been fleshed out and tried and trued. We are not looking to try and make a lot of changes as seems to be the case every election. Sometimes I think there is a feeling that if your running for Prez/V.P. then you must deliver some sweeping changes. That is not what we are running to do. The following is what we would like to do:

1. The Club is mature enough that we do not need to enact sweeping changes and we are not looking to change legislation unless an obvious need is detected and its a must do.

2. Continue on the current path in regards to MAC and see what the report yields and any results. If anything our focus this campaign in on letting a strategy run its course and see what that yields and then make informed decisions from that point. MAC is the life blood of STF and we have to give real consideration and time to initiatives no matter what Presidential Term came up with the idea and plan.

3. Leave TECH to do what it has been doing. Exodus gives us a chance to show, outwardly and inwardly, that we are up to date to potential members. I have yet found cause to doubt TECH and its initiatives.

4. Unless a good cause can be made we are not looking to modify the structure governmentally of STF. We think its time to allow our efforts and concentration to switch to MAC and see where we can get more members. With a new series and maybe two movies in the works now is the time.

5. Concentrate on the CO position. I know that when ships fail and thereby the RP experience, it usually involves a CO in some way or the other. One thing I really want to do is really vet the CO application process. Not so much the procedure but the choosing portion. I am open to a 3 panel, informal, committee to evaluate a CO candidate. I’m talking about one led by a Fcomm so that there is a chance to really vet a potential candidate. In my old life we called this a Candidate Review Board. The criteria is already there. All we need is to grade it somehow and come up with a score and take some of the subjectivity out. I say informal because I think it would need to be tried first before it would even be considered as something permanent.

6. Tony has expressed interest in assisting other RPers with quality in writing. We have a lot of talented writers in the club who excel in certain areas exceptionally well! Some new members might not even have English as the first language and might want a little help, We even vote to award these people for what they do in the STF awards. If we had writers committed to helping other writers, how much would quality change throughout the club? We think it’s something worth looking at and getting member input on how to assist those who want to improve writing skills or explore writing themes. It is not all about the grammar you know. English Lit has a lot of facets.
