Good afternoon Joe, thanks again for your question. It’s a question I actually expected someone to ask going into this once I saw Sage/Kat decided to run too.

Rob, why should you be at the top of your ticket? You’ve been President twice before and Vice President once before, shouldn’t you let Katy do it if that’s what she wants to do? Couldn’t you show her the ropes as her VP the way Kat is going to show Sage the ropes as her VP? Don’t you need to step aside so the next generation can spread their wings and fly?

To answer the first part of your question about why I should be at the top of my ticket is mainly because I have always been of the opinion that being a mentor (on top) to someone of inexperience (on the bottom) both in and out of the club is a good way to train. At least when I am the one doing the training. You are correct I have been president twice before and VPrez too, but going I felt for the goals of our platform for the coming term would be better suited by me being on top vs say Katy. Mostly in part because much of our platform’s ideas (to be expanded on in some HQ posts to come up shortly!) were formed by myself.

The second part of your question regarding letting Katy be president and me her vice president has to do with what I said, she being my VP is here to support and help me carry out my plans for the coming term for the community. Where as if I was her VP I would not feel right in giving her my ideas/plans and having her carry them out, because even though I would support her how is she really getting the ‘full learning experience’ of sorts if I gave her all the plans, and essentially was then she was just a figurehead and community puppet while I just told her what to say or do etc. I know there’s some saying that sums up what I said but for the life of me I can’t recall what it is at the moment so sorry about that.

This isnt to say that Sage’s setup with Kat is wrong or conversely better then mine. They’re both in my mind arguably just as good in some way for better or worse. For me this was the better choice, and as Katy I am sure would reply here to confirm ‘she wanted to learn the ropes before getting dropped into the deep end’.

For the last part of your question, you’re right I would be glad to step aside for anyone new or old to do things and spread wings/fly. But I also feel that even if I am an ‘old timer’ I don’t feel its a negative as I have I truly believe always tried to do my best for the club in the roles I’ve done. Both for new and old members alike over the many years I have been in our community. So while yes I am ‘old’ I guess I don’t ‘feel old’? I got a lot to learn yet I feel and a lot I can teach others or do for STF’s community to continue to exist, thrive, and grow. I am a person who has always kept an open mind to new ideas, or refining old ones, or trying something finding its a mistake, admitting my mistake and then learning from that to do something else. Conversely I’ve always I felt been someone can approach and not worry about me being unfair or judgmental or whatever else you could put in this sentence. Point is I’ve always been friendly and approachable to have a good time in STF and have fun here.

I do confirm what Rob said. I want to be VP. If the roles were reversed, all I would end up being is President In Name Only. I currently have little to no idea how to do anything related with the president role, so I’d have to ask Rob anyway. By learning as VP, it gives me more confidence to do the role myself later rather than try not to look dumb when I forget how to do XYZ thing and Rob’s not around.
