These questions are primarily for Rob and Kat, as the people who have been in the club longer on both currently active tickets. I will accept any sort of commentary from any candidate though.

Each ticket in this race so far seems to have applied the principle of having a more experienced member paired with a less experienced member as a team in order to accomplish something. This pattern is fairly well tested within our club and generally leads to successful outcomes, not only in various levels of government but also with COs and XOs on ships as well. What is very interesting to me is that each ticket has applied the principle differently from the other. That is, Sage has stated explicitly that she picked Kat as her VP to benefit from her experience, yet Rob has decided to be President and picked Katy to be his running mate because she is less experienced in government than he is. I’d like to explore this difference by asking each more-experienced person essentially the same questions.

Rob, why should you be at the top of your ticket? You’ve been President twice before and Vice President once before, shouldn’t you let Katy do it if that’s what she wants to do? Couldn’t you show her the ropes as her VP the way Kat is going to show Sage the ropes as her VP? Don’t you need to step aside so the next generation can spread their wings and fly?

Kat, why should you be at the bottom of your ticket? You’ve been President once before and Vice President once before, shouldn’t you relieve Sage of the burden of being at the helm? Couldn’t you show Sage the ropes as President the way that Rob is going to show Katy the ropes as President? Don’t you need to step up so that the club can benefit from the wisdom of seniority?

In the event any other candidates join, please feel free to answer which version of the question applies to your ticket with the appropriate more experienced person. Alternatively, if you have rejected this model of ticket formation, please explain why and what logic you did use to form your ticket instead. Finally, any candidate can feel free to reject or agree with any of the underlying premises of either version of the questions if you think it would be interesting to do so.

Well, to be honest, Sage was the one who approached me with a vision for the club that I agree with. If we’re being honest, yes, I could absolutely show Sage the ropes in the same way Rob intends to show Katy, but this was Sage’s vision and I’m willing to help where I can to work toward it. The club will benefit just fine from my experience in my role as Vice President, that is if we are indeed the ones elected at the end of this.
