I’m curious to know what you think is the clubs biggest strength and what is it’s biggest weakness

Our biggest strength is our tradition of surviving in the face of tremendous societal change. The club has lasted almost 31 years. It outlasted Prodigy. It’s outlasted Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Enterprise. It outlasted The 4 TNG movies. Then it outlasted the dark days of no Trek at all. Then it outlasted the even darker days of the Abramsverse. It will outlast Star Trek: Discovery and its spin-offs. It will outlast whatever life throws our way; it already outlasted the dot-com bust, the War on Terror, the Great Recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic. We can outlast anything, and our knowing that we can outlast anything is actually why we have had the confidence to build an institution and its tools, that will help us last even longer. We just need to be willing to do some work.

Our biggest weakness is that we forget everything I just wrote about above, and think that the future is always hopeless. Text-based RP is always dying, Trek is always less popular with the kids these days, them-children are always playin’ the vidya games, the instant orange juice and touch-tone dialing is spoiling the kids so much they won’t know how to read. These things are partially true, but they are also the lamentation of every generation that looks toward the future and doesn’t understand what it sees. You’re should ignore that feeling and do what needs to be done anyway; life will sort itself out.

Also how would you answer the question ‘Why’ without any further information.

Because we are the dreams of the Last Best Hope of Earth. Dreams are worth fighting for.
