EARLY CHILDHOOD:
Micah Glass was raised in New New York on the outskirts of a heavy metropolitan area. She led a normal childhood, reaching all the milestones at, or before, the usual age. An only child, she lived with her father Jordan (a religious scholar) and mother Lila (a seamstress) in a small walk up in one of the clothing districts. There were no outrageous actions by Micah Glass, or injury to her aside from the normal bumps and bruises that populate most children’s younger years.

The only exception to the above statement happened when she was sixteen years old:

The year she turned 16 and was out of school for the summer, she and her friends would meet daily at Lake Chub. Micah lived closer than anyone else to the lake, so she was usually there first. On any given day, she had somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes to herself before the others began arriving. She usually read or just laid in the sun in her bathing suit while she waited for the others. One day, she noticed a man squatting by the water about 25 feet away. He was in his early 40’s, 190 lbs and about 5‘11”.

Over the course of a couple of weeks, he began talking to her while he skipped stones on the lake. He moved closer and closer over the next few days. Finally, he was teaching her how to skip stones like a pro. One day, he said he wanted to show her something a little further down the bank. He had a private vehicle there and he grabbed Micah, knocked her out and transported her to a dwelling that sat alone in a forest like place. Lots of trees, but no traffic.

He kept her prisoner there for three months, chained, with one manacle on her left wrist. He would only free her when she needed a shower, otherwise she spent all of her time in the same room. He called himself Gath and professed his love for her. He wanted them to be a ‘couple’ forever. He’d been watching her for weeks before he made the first contact. although Micah had never suspected that Geth was a threat before he kidnapped her, she soon found out afterwards that there was something wrong with his mind. He would beat her at the slightest provocation or imagined sleight, and then nurse her wounds when he saw them, al lthe while blaming someone named Han. She realized not too far into her captivity that Geth and Han were just two sides of the same person. Geth was almost kind and Han was violent. She never new who was going to enter the room when she saw him. The nights spent with Geth weren’t as bad as those with Han. She was always damaged in some way when the Han personality took over.

Three months into her captivity, Han came through the door one night, He was drink ad in a rage. He kept going on about something that happened in the city that day. Nothing Micah said to try and placate him made any difference and he beat her brutally. When it was over and he’d used up his rage, Geth was suddenly in control. He unlocked her manacle and carried her bleeding body to the bathroom. There was an old fashioned bathtub with running water ad he placed her in a warm bath a proceeded to wash her gently. He was actually crying at how much damage Han had done and apologizing for his alter ego.

After helping her out of the tub and drying her off, Geth wrapped her in a robe he’d bought for her many weeks ago during his preparations to take her. When he bent over the tub to pull the stopper, Micah surged forward and landed on his back. In the awkward position and with her entire weight on him, Geth drowned. Micah managed to hold on and keep his face in the water while he tried to fight his way up. When she was sure he was dead, she returned to her room and slept for many hours. When she woke up, she got dressed ad walked away from the cabin, It was the next day that she was found, taken to a hospital and her family was notified. Micah didn’t speak for a couple of days and then feigned amnesia about the entire incident. Her family didn’t want to put her through any more trauma so they didn’t push.

It was Micah’s determination to figure out why it had all happened that led her into the field of psychology and counseling.
