Conrad Mackenzie

Conrad was born to a Bajoran father and a Human mother. His father was named Yates Rez and he was a member of the Maquis, though Conrad’s mother did not know of this during their relationship. His mother is named Cassidy Mackenzie and she was a Starfleet officer station on Deep Space 9. What started as an attempt to convince Cassidy into giving up some vital information led into a complicated relationship. Yates didn’t know that Starfleet Intelligence became involved behind the scenes however, as Cassidy tried to walk a balance between her growing love for Yates with her duty as a Starfleet officer. Fate conspired against their love however when Cassidy had to pass on information that would jeopardize the lives of whoever acted on it. She tried to warn Yates before he acted with his cell, but he wouldn’t cancel the plan or run away with her. He’d made an oath to the Prophets to hurt the Cardassians at any cost and he was duty bound to see it through, even if he wouldn’t see his lover again. After Yate’s death was confirmed Cassidy was further shocked to learn that she was pregnant with his child. The guilt of pushing a good but flawed man to his death and losing someone she had come to love, had plagued Cassidy to the point that she resigned from Starfleet and returned home to Earth to have Conrad.

Conrad grew up in a loving environment but was conflicted as a child due to his dual cultures. He wasn’t raised under the precepts of the Bajoran faith but his face bore the telltale marks upon his nose. Whether others recognized that he was half-Bajoran was anyone’s guess but the curiosity of children led to some difficult conversations for Conrad and his mother. When he was old enough
