“That’s great to hear,” Johnson said, chuckling. “Getting people into your office, I mean. Starfleet frowns on us throwing too many cadets out of airlocks. The Commandant will start to explain to me again that cadets don’t grow on trees…”

She lifted her brows slightly.

“A human expression,” Johnson said. “I’m trying to think of the Denobulan equivalent…”

“I’m not sure that we do,” Liadra said with a light laugh. “But there are many other expressions that can add colour to a conversation when needed,” she said with a grin.

Liada considered the captain for a moment and then smiled softly. “I have only one request for you during this assignment together: remember I am an ally. There might be moments when it doesn’t seem like it, but I’m only ever here to help.”

Johnson absently scratched his beard for a moment. “Well, I couldn’t imagine it any other way,” he said.

“Not all Captains are so willing to take advice. Sometimes their ego gets in the way. I’m glad I won’t have that particular issue here.”

“Now, in terms of Endeavour’s regular hydrosailing tournament in the holodeck..” Johnson said, looking down at a random PaDD, before looking up to see the reaction of his new counselor.

“You can count me out and I will sit in the stands and watch like a good supporter,” she said with a grin. “I’m also pretty sure that sickbay won’t want me to participate, for my own safety, and that of others. Trust me Captain, it’s better this way,” Liadra teased.

“Of course,” Johnson said with a smile.

“Now, I do have to take on my own bridge shift shortly,” Johnson said. “Why don’t I let you finish getting settled in on Endeavour?”

“Sounds like a plan,” Liadra said with a grin as she rose to her feet. “Well, Captain, may this be one of many productive meetings. Though my expert opinion says the next one should take place in the Lounge,” she remarked with something of a smirk.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Johnson said. “You can often find me there when right after my bridge shift is over.”
