“More for Mason, but do we have any details that we already know in regards to this murder, any leads that we can follow up, or any that have led to dead ends so we can focus on those that haven’t already been explored,” Paron asked turning to face Mason as he drank his own coffee.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

“I will let you be the judge of that, Lieutenant,” Mason said. he pointed to the viewscreen in the room and said, “May I?”

Kaylee opened her mouth to answer the question with what she knew from the briefing, but she decided against it given the presence of a more firsthand source here. She also turned her attention to Mason and took a sip of her tea as she waited to hear what he had to see and whether it matched up with the commodore’s briefing.

Adrie, XO

Skye poured herself a drink of water as she too turned her attention to Mason. She sipped and considered him carefully,

Linking to the viewscreen from his case, the first image was that of the Magnus Corporration insignia that matched his pin. “The mining station on Beta Aurelius 2 has been operating for over a century. Such mining has encountered peaks and dips, however it has never ceased to function. The world, or rather moon, has a nearly 92% metallic constitution and is a primary supplier of base and refined metal for the Starfleet shipyards.” He paused as an overhead view of the facility was displayed. It looked much like a spider with two large central ‘buildings groups’, each with towers likes spines jutting from it. Eight broad feeder constructions that looked like legs from the ‘spider’ ended in another tower like facility. “The make up of the facility has not changed much since it’s construction.” He pointed to the larger of the main building groups. “Ore is processed here and loaded onto freighters. There are some 3,000 employees and support workers here. The Sheriff was principally an investigator and bouncer as it were, taking care of incidents such as brawls and small theft. There was only himself and a deputy. Any other ‘legal’ overseers was in the hands of the foremen who themselves oversaw their squads of workers.”

The next shot was that of an airlock. “This is where the incident happened. Why the Sheriff was in this particular area we still do not know. He was found in this airlock that had been depressurized. The deputy, one Willis Kramer, was found sitting on the deck near the controls babbling. In custody he admitted to depressurizing the airlock, though we don’t yet know why.” The image of the deputy came up. He was in his late twenties, cornflower thin hair sitting straight, blue eyes and freckled on an oval face.” He paused for any inquiries.

Paron took notes of the various areas that were bought to the crews attention, and already thought a babbling deputy to be an odd occurence. “Did Mr. Kramer have any medical history, or was this “babbling,” as you call it, something new?” he asked Mason.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

Kaylee listened carefully to Mason’s briefing, as it contained information that was new to her even after her communication call with the commodore. She nodded her agreement with Paron’s question and added one of her own. “Was the deputy tested for the presence of any foreign compounds?”

Adrie, XO

“These were shots of Mr Kramer as he was apprehended and in custody,” he said. The two images showed him first sitting on the deck, back to the bulkhead with his face vacant, looking exhausted with dark circles about his eyes and his otherwise bony face lax. “That is how he was found by emergency staff,” Mason replied, then switched to the next slide which was a short video in their sickbay. Willis was strapped to a bed and straining at the restraints. “His adrenal levels here were at high levels, then, after a time, simply stopped. A few hours later they returned. After a day of this back and forth he was sedated and apparently remains so. ” He looked to Adrie. “He was tested and, surprisingly it came up negative. However, our medical staff are not precisely Rhodes Scholars. MagCorp is hoping that you will be able to shed some light in this with any further tests you have.”
- Mason

Cassandra sat in her chair, truth be told she was a little out of her depth with medical issues, however, murder was sort of up her alley coming from a security background.

“Well, it seems that medical should focus on finding out what the heck is wrong with Mister Kramer,” Cassandra remarked, “I presume your medical staff will provide any notes on his treatment to my CMO?”

As the situation was explained Buckingham sat and considered all the information. With still so many questions un-answered, Tom looked forward to getting a copy of any notes that may prove useful.

“Yes I’d like to see those if I may.” Thomas spoke quietly. “Mason, was a Post-Mortem Examination carried out on the Sheriff at all?” He asked. All though the results of a potential Post-Mortem might seem irreverent at this point, Tom thought it would certain help provide more detail of this incident.

Lt. (J.G) Thomas Buckingham - CMO

The briefing room doors slid in and the man with XO pips on his collar stepped inside. Cmdr. MacLeod’s eyes went from each person sitting around the table until they rested on Captain Rixan, then noticed the man sitting beside her. He snapped a salute in her direction. “Commander Flynn MacLeod, reporting.”

“Captain Rixan, I reckon I owe y’all an apology for my late arrival, but that fella was supposed to shuttle me up here was all hat and no cattle. He was more nervous than a cat in a room full of rockin’ chairs.”

MacLeod (XO)

Immediately after MacLeod’s entering the room, Sean was the next and just saw the XO entering the room. “May be that the supposedly briefing room?” Wondered.
He had no choice but to enter, and relieved that it was indeed the briefing room, he stood at ease and with his elegant but also funny British accent he said “I’m sorry to interrupt, I’m Sean Knights, new CSO. May I join?”
Then as he waited for a reply he stood in front of the door, with his habitual thoughts wandering everywhere but in his mind.

Lieutenant Jr. grade Sir, Sean Knights - CSO

“Of course Lieutenant, have a seat,” Cassandra beckoned to an empty seat, “Welcome aboard, might as well hit the ground running.”

~Cassandra Rixan~

Sean moving through the seats of the room, was paying attention to avoid tripping somewhere and when the seat was on his right, with a regal move he sat comfy.
“ahem,” he made to clear his throat “so, If I may ask, what is the matter?” Asked with a gentle tone, Lieutenant Sean.

Paron took note of the new figure in the room, and how he presented himself. From the records, probably the new chief science officer. After giving him a brief nod, he turned back to Mason and the captain, to see if they wanted someone else to answer the scientist’s question.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

After introducing himself, Flynn moved to the empty seat next to the Captain. Even though it had been five years since he last served on a starship, etiquette rules were still in place after a lifetime of serving in Starfleet. If he remembered correctly, his seat was to the Captain’s right in the briefing room, as well as the Bridge, hence the phrase, ‘the Captain’s right hand’.

“I received a brief before leaving the Academy that the Endeavour will be investigating a murder at a mining colony. I reckon the ship’s security chief will be heading up this here investigation?”

He looked around the table until his eyes rested on the COS. “I reckon that’s you, Mr. Paron?”

MacLeod (XO)

Mason paused while the new additions became settled. “Grim business, this.” He nodded at MacLeod, frowning, not at him though at the thought of what lay ahead. “From my understanding there was not a post mortem performed. There did not appear in the estimation of the medics present, to have a need to conduct one. The cause of death was listed as airlock decompression. However, the body is in stasis and may yet be looked at by your people.”

“Oh a murder case!” Sean exclaimed “I can offer my knowledge and examine the scene with Mr. Buckingham.”
Then crossing his arms, he fell on his seat to relax and to think curious to the new and intriguing mission.

“Now,” Mason continued, bringing up a series of photos. “Here are the people whom we will be mainly interacting with.” The first was a woman with auburn hair pulled back into a braid. Her face was long with defined cheekbones and narrow, brown eyes. “This is Administrator Janet Hardiman. She runs the facility. This is her right hand man who is probably not unlike your executive officer, or perhaps operations officer, as his duties lay in the plant operation and mining. His name is David Stone.” The face was that of a round faced man with his dark hair tightly pulled back into a pony tail. It was streaked with grey at this point. Dark brows and eyes, and small mouth were pasted onto a fleshy pale face. “Lastly we have Gaia, the chief geologist of the facility. While you can interact with others these are the principles of the station.” The image that came up was that of a Horta.
- Mason

“Interesting. I may ask if we have already some suspects?” Interacted with Mason. Crimes stories were fulfilled in his childhood when her mother took old paper-made books and told him all sort of homicide stories: love-murder, paybacks, state strikes… what a lovely childhood, but weirdly he was all the opposite than the brave and fearless detective. Of course he feared for his life and time to time it was evident that he could have put the crew at risk because of this.

Lieutenant Jr. grade Sir, Sean Knights - CSO

“It would be Mister Kramer,” Cassandra spoke, “He was apprehended at the scene, however, there may be other factors at play as the prime suspect appears to have had a mental breakdown of some kind. That’s what medical and science will likely have to collaborate on…determining why he did it and what mental factors might be at play in the crime. He’s the one who did it, but if someone did something to cause whatever it is he’s going through, they may be as culpable. First goal, figure out what’s wrong with him and then determine if he’ll be reliable enough to interrogate to determine motive.”

~Cassandra Rixan~

“I agree that would be the best course of action right now,” Torias responded. “Once we know the cause of this madness, if indeed that is what it is, then we can get further. I feel an autopsy might be of some help considering the situation, though I feel our answers lie with our suspect rather than our victim. But there may be a clue as to what’s going on there. Once we know the cause, we will know if this has been engineered.” Paron stated calmly, more thinking out loud than anything to put his thoughts on the table.

Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS

“Does this Kramer fella have any history of violent or deviant behaviors? Any kinda recent conflict with victim?,” the XO asked as the wheels started turning in his mind.

Turning back to Mason, he asked, “What about the facilities security team? Did they perform any kinda investigation?”

MacLeod (XO)

“Good point Commander,” Cassandra nodded, “I presume we’ll have access to the service records or whatever you have on file for both Mister Kramer and the victim?” She looked at Mason with an expectant look on her face.
