Turning the bridge over to the next senior officer, Kaylee made her way to the briefing room she had indicated for the meeting. The first one there, she set a PaDD down by the chair to the immediate left of the head of the table, leaving room for Rixan when she was able to join them. Collecting a cup of tea from the replicator, she sat down and waited for the rest of the senior staff to make their way to the room.

Paron arrived not long after with Mason Lardon, the guest from the people they were working with and offered a seat. “Would you like a drink, Mr. Lardon?” Paron asked kindly before taking his own seat.

Mason entered a moment after Paron. His eyes first scanned along the row of windows that looked out over Earth’s orbit and space before focusing on the Commander. Making his way over to greet Adrie and, like with Paron, extended his hand. “Mason Larden of MagCor. Please call me Mason. I get far too much ‘Mr Larden’ in the office.” At Paron’s question he thought for a moment. “A mango lassi please, chilled.” He smiled at Adrie. “I was introduced to that last Christmas and, after coffee, is my go to.” After another pause he remarked, “I do apologize for this grim business being sprung on you like this. I was anticipating a transport with a couple of detectives to spend the next few days of travel with playing cribbage.”

As the door to the briefing room slid open to reveal Paron and Larden, Kaylee slid her chair back and got to her feet. She side-stepped around the table to make her way to the pair and extended her hand to meet Larden’s. “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she responded to his greeting with a smile. “I’m Commander Adrie, the first officer of the Endeavour. Captain Rixan had to step out for a moment but she will join us when she can.” She paused for a moment as her smile morphed into more of a smirk. “You can call me Kay.” She paused to allow him to extend his beverage order and nodded her thanks to Paron for ensuring their guest was comfortable. “I’m sure we can find some cadets that are well-versed in cribbage,” she commented. “But we’re happy to transport you along the way.”

Kay made her way back to the briefing table and indicated the seat across from hers. As Paron returned with the chosen beverages, she noted the rest of the senior staff slowly making their way into the briefing room and getting situated with their own drinks of choice. After giving them a few moments to converse and socialize, she got to her feet at the front of the room.

“Good morning, everyone. We’ve received our next mission. We’re heading to a mining station on Beta Aurelius 2 to investigate the murder of the sheriff there.” She chose to leave the information regarding the primary suspect out for now, to allow the relevant crew members to make their own conclusions. “Mason Larden,” she paused and indicated the gentleman across from her, “is here as a representative of the Magnus Corporation who owns the mining station. Mason, do you have anything to add?”

Skye walked in at that point in the conversation. She nodded her head briefly to Adrie and walked quietly to a seat. Sinking into it she looked around the room and tried to get caught up on the conversation.
