Kaylee made her way to the familiar location of the counselor’s office. She had managed to avoid her boarding evaluation when she joined the Endeavour as ship’s counselor since she had gotten signed off by Starfleet before boarding, but now that she had transitioned to her new role, it was time to check in with the new counselor. She pressed the door chime lightly and waited. She hadn’t had a chance to meet her yet and she was looking forward to the opportunity.

“Come in,” the voice from within the depth of the room called.

As the door slid open, Kaylee stepped through and then looked around the room with interest. She hadn’t had much of a chance to get settled before her promotion and she was curious to see what a little more time had allowed for the new counselor.

The owner of the voice seemed to be standing on a bookcase along one wall, filled with books and nicknacks,she was holding a piece of wall art, a intricate tangle of polished wood and filled in areas with colour that glistened when they caught the light. The decor of the office, as normally happened with each new counsellor, had been altered to fit the particular style of its occupant. It held a sofa and coffee table and some chairs and some beanbags in one corner. The lighting was softer than out in the main corridor and there didn’t appear to be a desk. There also appeared to be a water feature running at the back of the room in a small table.

The purple haired woman in starfleet uniform glanced at the door despite her precarious balanced position and beamed. “Commander Adrie, what a pleasant surprise, I was looking forward to meeting you officially.” Her accent held a definite Scottish lilt. “Come away in commander, I’ll no be two ticks,”

Kay resisted the urge to laugh at the image of a purple haired officer balanced precariously with artwork. She bit her lip to stifle her amusement and made her way inside the office. “Can I help you with that?” she queried, her face the picture of innocence as she made her way toward the new officer.

“Och no!” Skye said somewhat breathlessly as she finally managed to slide the heavy art work into place and tentatively let it go. When it didn’t fall she smiled, pushed her hair back and dusting her hands off jumped down to the deck. She ginned at Adrie.

“Sorry about that.” She held her hand out, “Skye Harper- Ryan, a privilege to meet you,” She said

Kay watched with amusement as Skye positioned the art work and monitored to make sure that it wouldn’t fall down. A small part of her was tempted to go over and thump the office wall to see if it truly was secure, but that felt a bit cruel to the hard work of the new officer and perhaps not the tone to set with one of the few people who could remove her from duty. She shook Skye’s proffered hand lightly and responded, “Kay Adrie, the privilege is mine. Settling in well? I can’t say I really had a chance to decorate.”

With another smile Skye looked around her new office. “I think so thank you.” She said. “I wondered when it looked very basic starfleet issue office if ahm honest. However I believe congratulations are in order for your recent promotion and thanks for the opportunity to serve as ships counsellor.” She gestured to the sofa. “Can I get you a drink, I was going to have some tea myself.”
