In the transporter room, the cranky old transporter chief sat tapping his fingers with aggravation. He’d heard that there was supposed to be an away team forming, but here, several minutes later, no one had showed up yet. With a grumpy sigh, he tapped on his comm badge: =/\= Crankypants to Paron. The XO told me that you’d be leading an away team. Do you plan on getting down here any time soon? =/\=

=/\=Sounds like the XO delegated that to me and didn’t tell me. I’ll be down in a few moments.=/\=

Paron didn’t know he was meant to be leading this team. He thought about what he knew, and he probably wanted someone trained in medicine for preparing for transport to the Endeavour.

=/\=Paron to Sickbay, could a doctor report for emergancy medical procedures and triage for an away team in the transporter room.=/\=

Paron also knew that an engineer would be better at getting further access and any technological problems they might come up with, so called down to Engineering next.

=/\=Paron to Engineering, could I grab a spare Engineer for an away team in the transporter room - we’re heading over to the Golddigger.=/\=

As Paron continued making his way to the transporter room, almost arriving, he recalled that there were some new cadets that had just been assigned to the Endeavour in the science department.

=/\=Paron to Kanto, the away team might be a good learning opportunity for a couple of your cadets to come along, though if their currently busy with their own tasks I understand - if you can spare one or two of them, have them meet me in the transporter room.=/\=

On the bridge, Kanto spared a moment of concentration to reply, =^=Understood, lieutenant. I will relay the message.=^= The Vulcan commed the science lab.

=^=Kanto to Science Lab 1. Cadet Kingstone, please report to the transporter room to assist Lieutenant Paron on the away team. Bring the appropriate equipment.=^=

Paron arrived in the transporter room and awaited the rest of the away team. Seeing the cranky transporter chief he nodded and stated simply “Would have helped if the XO told me she intended ME to lead the team - well, I’m here now - there should be some others on the way.”

OOC: Currently as we have no Engineers, someone should probably make an NE or NC for this one, unless we get an Engineer come in time :P.

For the cadets: As a crew of Starship usually has over 100 crew members, we never have that many actual players of course, so using NE’s is the way we can simulate that even when we have 8 or 9 player characters. They are typically minor temporary characters, that typically are only used for the duration of a particular scene, or less.

Buckingham was looking over a report with a nurse when Lieutenant Paron’s message came through.

Tom tapped the Communicator on his chest. =/\= Buckingham here. Understood. A triage team will be prepared and I’ll be attending shortly. =/\=

“Well then” Buckingham said, addressing the NE Nurse. “Have a triage team ready to go, I’ll give you more info as soon as I get it.” The Nurse busily began making preparations. Meanwhile Buckingham holstered a Phaser and Medical Tricorder around his waist, picked up a MedKit and made his way to the Transporter room.

Buckingham walked briskly though the ship and soon found himself passing through the threshold of the Transporter room.
“Chief, Lieutenant Paron” He said calmly as he nodded to them both by way of a greeting.

“Yeah yeah yeah,” Chief Crankypants responded as this excuse of a toddler of a department head made his way into his transporter room. Shortly after Paron’s arrival, NC UBreakItIFixIt stumbled in, looking as though he had just rolled out of bed. “Uhmm, the Chief Engineer asked me to report in for away team duty,” he stammered.
