“That’s such a wonderful perspective,” Kay responded with an encouraging smile. It certainly made her job easier when officers had done all of the psychological work already. “With your daredevil tendencies, what do you like to do in your off duty time?” she queried, jotting down several more notes to include in her summary of the psychological evaluation.

“Well, the holodecks can only replicate the feeling of mountain climbing to a certain extent, that’s one of my favourite past-times, also mountain biking. I did some cliff diving when I was younger and some wing-suit freefalling - all very exciting. I did a skydive once, and wouldn’t mind doing that again…” Torias responded to the question. “But most commonly in the holodeck I like to snowboard - something I picked up at the Academy as an activity that I did in my spare time, I’ll usually load up various runs in the holodeck and enjoy the mountain view. Nothing beats the views from real life though - Earth had some beautiful views. Trillius also had some stunning sights as well - and we have similar activities - and I found it a good way to enjoy the scenery,” he said, “of course - it is a killer on the legs,” he added with a chuckle.

“Well, as long as you keep the safeties on, I think we can agree that’s a great way to get your adrenaline going,” Kay commented with a grin. “It seems that you’re fit for duty, Lieutenant. Do you have any questions for me or is there anything I can do to help support your transition to the Endeavour?”

“I would say so, besides - I don’t have the access to turn the safeties off at the moment,” Torias responds with a small chuckle. “If I do have any I’ll be sure to get into contact - and I guess we can work together on those transitions,” he added.

“Sounds like a plan,” Kay responded with a pleasant smile as she stood and made her way around her desk to shake the young officer’s hand. “I’ll see you around, Lieutenant,” she said as she escorted him to the door of her office.

Torias gave a slight nod and took the offered hand “I’m sure, ma’am,” he replied with a smile, then following the counsellor as he was escorted out. Stepping out of the office he began walking down the corridor and then let out a smile. He always took a moment to reflect on the sessions he had with the ships counsellors, as he often learned something he didn’t originally know about himself. Stepping into the turbolift, it was time to finish getting settled in his new quarters, before his first shift aboard the Endeavour began.

Kay shook his hand firmly and then watched as he exited and the door slid shut behind him. With a small sigh, she returned to the ever-growing stack of paperwork that was taking over her desk.
