Kate nodded at Paron as she strode off the bridge, having been called away to handle a different situation.

The situation was that prior to the collision of the two prospector ships, there were 8 life signs. One, on the 49’er commanded by a Captain Ming Xi, died in the crash. The remaining seven were still alive, with all four aboard the Golddigger being alive. The Golddigger, captained by one Ferdinand Crane, however, had two life signs that were - by medical standards, critical. Of the seven living in the two ships, four could be beamed out. Of the other three there was interference from the vessels’ damage that was preventing a beam out as it stood. Those would be on the 49’er, though which had the engine rupture and fire aboard. The Golddigger had severe structural damage from the strike with the ice-asteroid and had lost all life support first.

“Get the lifesigns we can beam out immediately and beam them to sickbay, inform medical they’ll be having some patients,” Cassandra ordered, “What’s the situation on the 49’er? Risk assessment on sending an away team to rescue the remaining lives?”

Looking at the tactical reports, Torias reported “Engine rupture and fire on the 49’er, captain, but we might be able to beam aboard to a part of the ship that is free from fire if we are quick. Probably going to be a lot of smoke,” the new Security chief responded to the captain’s orders.

He then checked if there were any safe spots to beam on the ship that had not yet set on fire that would give them access to the injured crew aboard the 49’er.

“Let me know if there’s a relatively clear path to the injured,” Cassandra nodded to her security chief, she hope there was, but she wasn’t going to send an away team on a mission where there was a low probability of success.

The ships weren’t going anywhere and they could be accessed through outside hatches via EVA suits to get to those unable to be beamed out directly. The fires were primarily plasma fires via ruptured conduits. There was little chance of further explosions with power loss. Since the crew was not outside the ship assumed perhaps that there was some mechanical issue with their hatches.

Torias reviewed the information and told the captain “There are some access points outside, and there is only a small chance of further explosions on the 49’er, I think we can possibly route a clear path to those that are not in a beaming state, Captain. The outside hatches might have mechanical issues,” he responded as the information came up on his console.

Kanto watched from the navigation console as the others started to formulate a plan. He looked over at the sensor read-outs that he had relayed to the navigation console and knew he could fly the Endeavor to the 49’er and the Golddigger. “I believe I can fly her true to the ships, Captain.”

“Do it, Commander, assemble a team, break out the EVA suits,” she nodded to her XO.

Kanto nodded. With the skill of someone used to piloting through stellar phenomena, the Vulcan plotted and executed a course towards the ships. He kept an eye on the sensors as he did so, avoiding any of the larger asteroids that the Endeavour’s shilelds could not handle.

This far in the ice-asteroids were tighter but for the forseeable period the Endeavor could navigate around them. The peril was that of the gravitational pull taking in the asteroid that the two prospector ships were in. They had limited time there to extract them - no more than an hour to get down there and get the survivors out before the gravity either pulled them in to crash or that the asteroid would break up from the forces.
