“I am Lieutenant Trent, the new Chief of Security. Please update me on the status of the ship.”

Trent, COS

“We have several issues going on right now. First and foremost is the investigation on some sort of disappeared crate going on in the cargo hold. I was there a few moments a ago to monitor a forensic telepathy procedure. We also have a distress signal that’s coming in from a prospector ship that crashed into another ship. Moreover, only two moments ago, I was giving a telepathy class on the Holodeck. That’s all I have to report, ma’am.”

Cadet Barvan, Security

Kate digested the information presented by the cadet with a slight twinge of disbelief. A week ago, she had been infiltrating rival political factions and today she was sitting here listening about telepathy classes. A masochistic part of her wanted to ask more about what in the world a telepathy class was, but she couldn’t bear to hear that response right now.

“What is the status on the disappeared crate investigation?” she inquired to see if it was worth sending Barvan back to assist.

Trent, COS

“Right now I am attempting to relieve some cerebral trauma incurred after a telepathy accident so we can get our witness back. As for the disappeared crate, asking engineering. That wasn’t my assignment.”

Cadet Barvan, Security

It took all of Kate’s finely trained will-power not to roll her eyes at Barvan’s response. Security officer should always be aware of what’s going on in all of the places of their ship. How else would they be able to assess risk and mitigate damage?

“Liaise with engineering and get me a report on that,” she ordered. She continued before he could ask any questions. “You’re dismissed.”

Trent, COS

“Ma’am!” Barvan would say, whipping his arm up in a military salute.

He’d then leave the security office to go liaise with engineering to give Lieutenant Trent a report.
