“Well, hello! I’m Liadra. I’m new as well. Come on in and then make yourself comfortable.” She looked around at the very basic grey couch and the one arm chair that amounted to the sitting area. “As much as you can anyway.”“I am certain it will be fine.” Treyarch said as he sat down in the couch smiling softly but didn’t seem to express too much as he paused, expecting her to speak next.
“So, where were you last and what brings you here to a cadet ship?” she asked as she continued to unpack from over at the desk.

“I was on Starbase 202, I served as their Chief of Security for a long time. About here years ago I left Starfleet to help my family back on Vulcan. My grandfather was ill and he wished to have me by his side before he passed. I stayed behind for a long time to aid them with his estate. After while I began to think I needed to continue my service to Starfleet, so I decided if I was going to come back I wanted to help the future so an academy vessel seemed to fit.” He said as he looked at her, not seemingly emotionlesss but certainly didn’t seem to be overwhelmed either.Treyarch, CoS
Liadra paused in her unpacking while he spoke. Her grey eyes gazed at him attentively as he spoke and she found herself nodding. “What is it about Starfleet that you find so compelling? And how do you think you’ll help the future?”

“Starfleet changed my life greatly. I didn’t have very much purpose before I joined and now… now I feel amazing. More centered, calmer.” Cain said as he thought about the history he had here.
Treyarch, CoS
“How so?” Liadra asked, giving him her full attention. “What was it specifically that Starfleet changed for you?” Every person who walked through her door had their own story. Whether it factored in to her evaluation depending on many variables and the jury was still out when it came to the new COS.

“I grew up on Vulcan, my mother is half Vulcan half human while my father human. He was in Starfleet and died when I was very young at the battle of Wolf 359. Despite being more human than Vulcan, all I have ever really known is Vulcan life, and their expectations. So… I tried to blend in, but I have always been too emotional for most Vuclans. Which I do find some irony in, as most humans find me too Vulcan at times.” Cain said as he raised his eyebrow, letting that thought sink in it never escaped his attention that he always felt apart from both worlds.
Liadra leaned in conspiratorially and winked. “I’m not Human, so I don’t find you as anything but you.” She wasn’t going to dwell on any of the details he told her unless they didn’t seem like anything he hadn’t already dealt with and it might impact his work. “To be fair, Denobulans challenged many preconceptions for some of the different species we’ve met over the years, so we’re practiced at navigating those situations.”
“When I was finally old enough to make my own choices, Starfleet seemed the best. It had people from all walks of life, it didn’t matter what I was. Now I admit it hasn’t been perfect, but I find myself more at peace in mixed locations.

She nodded. “It’s always a process, no matter who you are, isn’t it?”
“And now you’re here to impart your expertise on the next generations. How do you plan on doing that very important job?” Liadra.
