=/\= Understood, i’m arriving now… =/\= As the doors to the XO’s quarters opened, the chief engineer set his kit down and moved to the nearest display screen. =/\= Computer, begin replay of security feed sent from Security. In a bi-linear feed please run a coding feed, and correspond with any older versions that may be saved on the database.=/\= Zenzgii hadn’t taken a second to stop and see who had arrived in the quarters as per his notification to the cadets. “Cadets Benjamin, Weir, Clark. We are on a tight deadline and I don’t have time to hold your hands. Show some initiative and begin checking the hot tub filtration system, after i’d like a full disassembly… Do NOT miss anything. Our XO’s life depends on it…
—Zenzgii, CE“All engineering cadets, report to Sickbay immediately.”
Caelian blinked up from his sandwich, mouth frozen open mid-bite. Was this another one of the chief’s tests? Had something happened? His stomach protested loudly as he set the sandwich back on the plate and pushed away from the table. Frowning to himself, he grabbed his toolkit as he left his quarters. What whirlwind of a first day!
He muttered apologies as he made his way to Sickbay, trying his best to remember his manners along with his route. Happily, he only got turned around once and made a mental note to walk the ship in the morning. As the doors of his destination hissed open, Caelian spotted the chief already hard at work. He thought to ask what was going on, but the saurian’s brisk instructions knocked the pleasantries right out of him. Something was going on, and it was serious.
Wait, he thought to himself, did the chief say… ‘hot tub’?
Shaking off his confusion, Caelian knelt and popped the lid on his toolkit. Time to get to work. “Computer, run a… Level 4 diagnostic on the, uh, hot tub filtration system. Note any inorganic compounds, as well as chemical interactions outside of standard operating parameters.”
While he waited for the results, he readied his tools and began to pull access panels. While the diagnostic might not have been the most thorough, it was the fastest—and the chief had called for haste. Besides, if he was going to have to pull it apart and examine it all anyway it wouldn’t have mattered. Hopefully, the computer would find something and give him a starting point. If not…
—Cadet Weir, Engineering—“Gah” Zenzgii hissed, “Weir, it looks like priorities have shifted.” he said as he looked at a PaDD notification. “There’s a sensor malfunction in Sickbay that can’t be delayed. The victim who the Medical Officer states is clearly dead is still being detected as alive and well. I’m going to need you to take a kit with you and figure out what is going on down there and keep me posted via com badge.” The saurian swiped his PaDD and resumed monitoring coding details.
—Zenzgii, CEThe before the cadet could scurry off the results came back on the automatic filter test. It was working within normal tolerances.

“Yes, sir, on my way.”
Caelian put his tools back into his kit and stood, frowning at the computer’s report on the filtration system. Well, it’s someone else’s puzzle now, he thought to himself as he made a note for his replacement. Once he was certain he had everything, he rushed off to Sickbay.
