After watching Fayth leave Rainns finished his drink, he had now witnessed two separate people walk out while talking to him. He turned to Griess, ” I have that effect on women you know.” Staring into his empty cup he heavily contemplated leaving, his social battery was nearing the end of its charge and the man needed privacy sooner than later. He decided to stay for a few more minutes. His fascination with Fayth was dying down when her voice came into his head again. He loved it, the ability to communicate with somebody not even in the same room was amazing to him. ‘If you can still here me,’ he thought out. ‘I would love to eat a dinner with you sometime so I can solve the mystery of what makes you tick, unless of course you don’t want too, but just so you know, I’m completely comfortable with you’. He had to admit the wall that Fayth had put up for him to break through was a thought that excited him. He loved these sort of interactions that had meaning and were not simply rounds of small talk. Ordering one last drink he turned to Greiss, “So what are you doing onboard the Challenger?”

OOC: Another split repaired XD
IC:
Mika flushed a deep red that time. “Um.” She said, and then to ease the tension said, “Hm. Flatteringness. Don’t think so. It all works though, right?” She hated how awkward the two of them were tonight. Yesterday, and when they ran, it wasn’t so weird between them. Now, it was, and Mika still hadn’t any idea why. The only thing she could think to do was pretend it wasn’t. Setting down another wet wad of napkins she said, “That’s probably as dry as I’m getting for now, anyway. It’s fine, honestly. No big deal at all…” She hoped Aili didn’t know that it was her coming back that caused Mika to spill the drink anyway.~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor
OOC: I’m leaving this here but moving to a new thread
IC: The next morning Joesph found a message on his computer from Sharah, ‘Dinner would be nice.’On his work station Griess found a message from Sharah. “I have to decide the type of study I want to conduct. I was hoping I could bounce some ideas off of you about exobiology and exocultural studies, if you have time.”
Cadet Fayth, Doctor
“Right you are.” Aili was glad that moment was over with Mika’s refusal, although the deep blush the other cadet now sported revealed that her slip up hadn’t gone unregistered. Keen to change the subject, she continued. “Looks like we both need new drinks huh.” She raised a hand to summon the bartender. However instead of coming to attend them, he raised a hand and picked up a mop. Clearly he would be a while longer. “So, have you met anyone nice so far?”, Aili asked as she pulled an endearing smile. It wouldn’t be until a few seconds later that Aili realised she had asked precisely the question she didn’t want the answer to and her stomach responded with an appropriate lurch.

“Yeah, I suppose we do,” she said, and she also looked over at the bartender, and then shrugged when he grabbed the mop. The mess was her fault after all. “Anyone nice?” She shrugged, “Not really.” And then she glanced up and said, “You?” What if Aili was asking that because she had met someone?

She hasn’t met someone nice. That’s good right? No? Yes. She wouldn’t lie to your face would she? Aili blinked and took a breath in that moment to clear her thoughts. “Me? Well, Rainns was friendly. Joseph, I think his name was. You met him? I haven’t had a chance to properly speak to anyone else.”
Cadet McMorran - Science
“Not really. He seems nice, though. Focused on his work. You know?” She said. The small talk was driving her crazy. She couldn’t take much more of this not knowing what Aili was thinking. She wished they could just throw some truth bombs at each other and just get it over with. Instead, she looked at Aili, an ever-so-rare serious expression coming over her face, and said, “Aili. Did I do something to upset you? Or anger you or something? It kind of seems like I did… And if I did, I want to know what, so I can apologize for it. Because whatever it was I didn’t mean it. Okay?”

The seriousness which fell across Mika’s face was something Aili had barely seen; only once she could recall, when her fall had worried Mika the day before. The woman’s face falling into that configuration didn’t do wonders to calm Aili’s nerves. When the other cadet spoke, her words only served to further fuel Aili’s desire to sink through the photonic floor and hide beneath it for the rest of the evening. Her legs swinging from the bar stool, Aili physically kicked herself before attempting to respond. “I… Well I saw you with Miss Magic Gown. It was nothing you did, believe me. In fact it would be more fair to say I saw her accosting you, come to think of it. It just…” She tailed off, her voice then returned in a hushed tone as she lowered her eyes. “It caused my long cultivated sense of social ineptitude to flair up.” Her gaze returned to meet Mika’s, her eyes visibly straining ever so slightly as if to hold back a tear. “That’s all.” She shook her head as if to disperse all her words, thoughts and emotions. “I’m sorry. This isn’t very fun is it?”

Noticing that Cadet Mika’s attention had gone elsewhere, Hayley had a look around to see who else was about. She noticed the Catian first, he did kinda stick out after all, and he also looked a bit lost so she moved to the stool next to him. “Hello.” She offered her hand, “I’m Hayley, I don’t think we’ve met yet.”
