It had been awhile since Cadet Devon Collins had had to have visited with a counselor. He wasn’t really expecting anything strange, though he was curious as to how this new Counselor and Devon would get along. He hasn’t always gotten along with them, especially his counselor back at Mount Royal. Just because he went to the same school as Devon’s parents. That always made it more difficult. And of course, Devon wasn’t near their levels of genius, although he was respectably smart in his own right. In any case, now was his opportunity to move forward with his first posting. He was excited, and ready to get through this last report before starting his first duty tour. Stepping forward, he prepares to meet with the counselor.

A bubbly blonde cadet in the teal of medical perked up as the cadet entered the counselor’s office. “Hi there! Commander Korczak is with another patient right now, but feel free to make yourself comfortable as you wait. I’m Cadet Bubbles, welcome to the Challenger!”

“Thank you Cadet Bubbles, it’s nice to meet you.” He smiled at her, and then slowly moved around the office, enjoying the decorations. It always interested Devon to see the different style’s found in someone’s workspace. He wondered how much of this was Commander Korczak’s and how much was the friendly assistant Cadet Bubbles’? “Thank you for the welcome. To be honest, I’m a little nervous, this is my first posting. Any advice you can give a new shipmate?” He smiled once more, happy to just be talking to someone.

The cadet gave Collins a friendly smile. “Get to know the people around you… they make it all worth it” she commented. “Can I get you something to drink while you’re waiting to see the counselor?”

“Just a water, please.” Finding a seat, he sat down and cleared his throat. “So tell me, how long has Challenger been commissioned? It’s always fascinated me that there are some ships that actually operate as part of star fleet, but are still connected to the academy. ” He left that thought open to see where she would go with it, he was always interested in hearing more about others and their thoughts than he was sharing his own.

Cut. Devon Collins, security

Bubbles laughed softly as she got the water for Collins and a some sort of neon red bubbly drink for herself. She took a sip and a delighted look came over her face, so whatever it was, it must have been tasty. “The Challenger has been commissioned when you were a child, likely,” she finally replied, unable to hold back a giggle. “She’s been around for a long time, but Starfleet keeps her fresh for us to practice our skills on before we get assigned to a mainstream ship.” Luckily for Collins, Bubbles was more than happy to share her own thoughts in this casual situation. “I’m enjoying the chance although I haven’t been aboard long. Commander Korczak is such an amazing mentor…” her voice trailed off as she blushed lightly. “He’s pretty easy on the eyes too.” She punctuated her last comment with another giggle and a sip of her bubbly drink. “How did you end up in Starfleet?”
