Garth again subconsciously glanced down at his lab coat and traditional uniform he wore underneath it. To avoid feeling self-conscious, Garth scowled instead. “Civilian clothes are unbecoming of someone of my academic stature,” he said defensively. Garth paused. “I enjoy mysteries where the riddle can actually be solved logically. If it’s one of those over-dramatic goose-chases where the culprit is someone completely unexpected and un-foreshadowed, then I’ll pass.”

“What’s wrong with some overly dramatic fun? You’ve got the excitement of the chase, and the grand conclusion. It gets the heart pumping,” Max said as he leaned back in his chair. While he had learned to slow down a bit these days,hHe was definitely used to a faster, more adventurous life, but that was not surprising given his background as a pilot.

“But there is also a thing as coming on a bit to strong,” he said with a chuckle. Either the chief had a really good hand, or he was bluffing.
