Emmy nodded approvingly at the CMO as she completed the task and then sat back in her chair slightly. Now that the officers seemed to be getting more involved in the game, she felt as though she could relax just a smidge.
Davis, CO
“Getting relaxed Captain?” Max grinned as he picked up his drink.
“Okay, I’ll make this easy for everyone this time. Call.” Picking up the extra $10 chip, he tossed it into the middle of the pot.
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
Harkness’ recognition of her relaxed posture was enough for Emmy to raise back upright as she stared at his drink for a moment and then turned her attention to the CSO. With luck, this round of betting would soon finish and they would be able to move on.

Garth spent a couple painful seconds glowering at his cards, then the flop, then his cards again. With a mighty “hmph” Garth dropped his cards on the table unceremoniously. “Fold,” he snorted before scooting his chair back rather loudly and making his way to the refreshment and snack table, inspecting his options there carefully as he did his best to ignore the indignation that came with being the first one out.
(Lt. Garth, CSO)
Keval looked at the Tellarite with a grin. “Garth! My chewing gum can’t be that bad! I mean, I know human snacks are odd, but this seemed like the best choice…”
The Andorian then looked back at the table to see what the next card would be…

OOC: Oh, in case anyone is interested, I started tracking the bets, etc.: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cgQR0MgLpqBHTVqFPAQnNgW3gNsDly2d29zG5yKNXXA/edit?usp=sharing
-Daniel
OOC: If you want to give me edit access (I think you know my email :P), I can help keep it updated. It would be great if we could add the cards people have too so I can delete my terrible and incorrect summary at the top.

Emmy watched with observant eyes as the CSO made his way to peruse the snacks provided by the senior staff. It was notable that he had decided not to continue in the hand. The interpretation of the behavior would have to wait until she saw the game play out further, but for the moment, she felt buoyed by her decision to learn about her staff’s personality through this unfamiliar card game.
As the round of betting concluded, she carefully placed the next card in the deck beside her and flipped over the next one, placing it face up beside the flop. The card was the Two of Spades. The betting would now begin with the COS.

Garth gave a grunt of disapproval over his shoulder at Keval’s comment. “I can tell by the smell alone that it wouldn’t agree with me.” Swiping a couple stalks of celery from the bushel he had brought, Garth proceeded to snap off pieces of the vegetable and chew them rather loudly, watching the round continue from across the room.
(Lt. Garth, CSO)
“You know there is no reason to be grumpy just because you had a bad hand,” Max said leaning back in his chair. “Half of what poker is about is being patient. Especially this early in the game.”
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
Emmy let a small smirk dance at the corners of her mouth as she overheard the conversation between the officers. Now they were getting somewhere with the game.
Davis, CO
Nijix listened to the exchange between the CSO, CE, and XO. Garth’s attitude drew odd parallels to a grisly veteran security officer Raji knew. The thought made her chuckle softly as her turn came around. She calmly looked at her cards then the growing pot, debating in her head.
“Call.” She tossed in 60 worth of chips then excused herself from the table.
Her figure slipped toward the CSO as she eyed the vegetable tray and selected a carrot. Her crunch was far quieter as she chewed. She crossed her arms over her chest, glancing back at the table.
“I’m not a fan of salt and sour favors myself. I prefer savory or sweet snacks.” Nijix took another bite while tracking the turns at the table.
Garth eyed the chief security officer as she approached, maybe a tad suspicious of her intentions. He offered a small snort of acknowledgement. “Perhaps it’s my physiology, but while many cultures seem to have a negative association with the term ‘bitter’, it’s actually a taste I quite enjoy.” To prove his point, Garth plucked a broccoli head off of the platter and popped it into his mouth, grinding it between his molars.
“Personally, I’m enjoying the socialization more than the game. It’s nice to see the department heads all out of our duty and into a casual setting. Maybe next time we can do a good mystery in the holodeck?”
-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS
Garth again subconsciously glanced down at his lab coat and traditional uniform he wore underneath it. To avoid feeling self-conscious, Garth scowled instead. “Civilian clothes are unbecoming of someone of my academic stature,” he said defensively. Garth paused. “I enjoy mysteries where the riddle can actually be solved logically. If it’s one of those over-dramatic goose-chases where the culprit is someone completely unexpected and un-foreshadowed, then I’ll pass.”
(Lt. Garth, CSO)
“Logic isn’t the best tool for every problem,” Keval chimed in. “Although in this case…”
“I see your 60, and raise you 40,” Keval said, tossing $100 worth of chips into the pot. “Now that should make things a bit more interesting.”
-Lt. Keval Vras, CE
“What’s wrong with some overly dramatic fun? You’ve got the excitement of the chase, and the grand conclusion. It gets the heart pumping,” Max said as he leaned back in his chair. While he had learned to slow down a bit these days,hHe was definitely used to a faster, more adventurous life, but that was not surprising given his background as a pilot.
“But there is also a thing as coming on a bit to strong,” he said with a chuckle. Either the chief had a really good hand, or he was bluffing.
