Morrell stood at the center of the Security Office, arms folded as the department’s officers gathered. Taylor and Felch were among the first to arrive, already exchanging quiet remarks about the last duty rotation. Morrell waited until the room settled, his tone calm but focused.

“Alright, team — we’re running a quick readiness sweep. Nothing formal, just a routine drill to make sure we’re sharp and systems are clean. I’ll take Deck 2 with Felch; Taylor, you’ll handle the armory inventory and report any discrepancies directly to me once complete. Bravo, check the containment field generators, and Charlie, review response times for emergency alerts on Deck 8.”

“Armoury, got it”

Chris said with a small nod as he looked over the assignment on his PADD

He wondered why a Cadet suddenly thought he was in charge and able to give orders, last time he checked, he and Morrel were both Cadets here, he was happy to go along with it all for the moment as it gave them something to do

He keyed several commands into the console, sending their assignments to individual padds.

“Keep your posts short and straightforward. The goal here isn’t to outwrite anyone — it’s about staying coordinated and keeping our edge. Once everyone’s checked in, we’ll compile the findings and file them to Command.”

Morrell gave a small nod, a trace of a grin forming as he slung a tricorder onto his belt.

“I’ll log my sweep results at the end. Let’s keep this one tight and efficient, folks. Challenger Security, let’s get to it.”

(OOC: Starting a short Security Department readiness drill — a simple, flexible exercise to keep the team active. Each officer’s assignment is open-ended, so post as much or as little as you want. I’ll close the drill IC after everyone’s had a chance to respond.)

Morrell glanced up from the console as Taylor’s comment registered, catching the faint edge in the other Cadet’s tone.

“Nothing formal, Taylor,” he said evenly, a small half-smile forming. “Just keeping us all synced up. If we wait for Command to tell us to stay sharp, we’ll already be behind the curve.”

He keyed a few updates into his PADD, then looked between Taylor and Felch.

“Figured we could all use a little field time, and I didn’t want anyone sitting idle. The Challenger runs smoother when Security does too.”

With that, he slung the tricorder back onto his belt and gave a nod.

“Let’s make it quick and clean. No rank, just readiness.”
