Chris remembered back to his own scans and realised they could go round the outer edge, which would take an inordinate amount of time to trek, however it seemed they didn’t have much choice at this juncture, he paused for a moment hesitating as to whether he should say something or not, then he thought the XO seemed like mellow and understanding officer, so he went ahead

“Sir, if i recall from my own scans, the trek on the outer edge would be our best course of action at this juncture.......it will be very long though”

He said with his tricorder holstered and his phaser in his right hand, set to stun of course, afterall they didn’t want any accidents.

“But sir, the Captain did say we should stay out of the forest. Perhaps we should go around the edge of the forest.”

“I believe i said just that”

2>Chris side with slight irritation in his voice, he was unsure why Cadet Black Cat was repeating what he said but he wouldn’t say anything about it until it moved into the annoyance territory

Atob turned to Cadet Taylor and gave him a warning look before addressing them both.
“Okay, let’s go round the outer edge, keeps your eyes open for anything and keep those scans going. I want us to be prepared for anything to happen.” He stated and then headed, cautiously, round the outer edge of the forest.

The XO obviously didn’t like a Cadet giving their opinion on the situation, maybe he felt it made him look back but that wasn’t how Chris saw it, afterall two heads or in this situation multiple heads were better than one, however the XO chose not to give him a dressing down......at least not for now, perhaps that would come later, for now Chris decided to shrug off the feeling.

“Yes Sir”

He said starting his walk around the edge with his phaser in the right hand and his tricorder set to a continuous scam in the other.

“Good.” Atob replied simply as he walked looking around.

Black Cat just nodded as he put his tricorder away and pulled out his phaser and followed along.

The group moved through the alien forest around the edge, it was a hard walk the forest was dense with undergrowth here, more dense that the rest of the forest. Moving around the outer edge was going to take a couple hours. As they moved, Cadet Talor’s mind went black. I'm this way came the Chief Medical Officers voice, don't go, your sensors are wrong, it's a trap the voice said. come to the lake in the center I'm in a cave near the north side, hurry the voice died off.

Chris suddenly stopped in his tracks as if hitting a brick wall, he had only met the CMO once and that was during his medical when he came onboard, but he could make out that it was the voice of the good Doctor

“Hang on , I can’t tell you how but i have the voice of the CMO in my head telling me not follow our scans as it’s a lie, we need to go to the lake at the centre”

He said a little confused, he knew what he had heard but as this was the first time hearing a telepathic message, he wasn’t 100% sure that it was indeed the Doctor he was hearing

Atob frowned that was very odd. They had been told to avoid the forest. Going to the lake would be going through the forest.
“Going to the lake would surely mean going through the forest. Are you sure she said the lake, Cadet?”
