“Umm sir? I think I remember the Captain saying we should stay out of the forest. Any chance there is a path that is, well I guess, not so direct?”

With that Chris made another scan with the intention of finding an alternative route rather than brave the forest

The lift was on a rocky ledge near the edge of the dome’s massive terrarium. Before the team stretched a dense alien forest, towering trees with violet and crimson leaves, thick undergrowth alive with movement, and faint telepathic murmurs brushing their minds like echoes in the dark. Tricorder scans showed countless life signs, but no safe or direct paths through the foliage. The forest was a maze of roots, ferns, and bioluminescent mist, too dense to traverse quickly.

The scans confirmed what they already suspected: there was no way around. The only route to the far side, where Lieutenant Rox’s lifesign registered, was down through the lower maintenance decks and back up beneath the dome’s support structure—a network of tunnels running beneath the artificial wilderness.

Chris saw the results of his scan and let out a sigh of frustration

“I’m sorry to say this Sir, the only way to get to Lieutenant Rox’s lifesign is to brave that forest”

He said to the XO , he didn’t want to say it but he was willing to do just that, they had a job to do and even though they were warned about the forest it didn’t seem they had any other choice at this juncture.

Toby blew out a breath and scratched his head. They had been told to stay out of the forest, so that ruled going through it. He had already annoyed the Captain enough just with his presence on the ship, he didn’t need to give Foley any more reason to be annoyed. He then had an idea.
“We were told to stay out of the forest, so we can’t go through it Cadet. They didn’t tell us that we couldn’t go under the forest. Cadet, plot a route with your tricorder that takes us out of this deck and under the forest. Let’s go get our good Doctor.” Toby ordered looking over at the forest, slightly intrigued at what was inside.

Chris gave a wry smile, he may have only 20yrs old but he what the XO was saying , it was a way to follow the orders given but also a way to circumvent them

“Yes Sir”

He said using his tricorder to plot a course under the forest

OOC: sorry I was on loa family emergency.

The way forward through the underground was long it would take hours to get through, as they made their way into the lyft the doctors signature went down two decks as well. As the lyft doors opened again they were staring at the forest once more. They had moved but they were right back where they were.

IC: “How can this be?”

Chris said quietly to himself

“Sir it appears we are right back where we started, i would imagine it has something to do with this forest, we were warned about telepathy being used”

He said to the XO, he had no idea how they would get out of this place
