Always one to soak in a new posting, Scott smiled.

He was a larger gentleman, both in height and stature. He’d once earned the nickname of “Viking” based on his towering height, all of which came from his father. Flaming red hair and an equally red beard allowed the Lieutenant to be seen from pretty much anywhere and made it incredibly difficult for the man to be lost in a crowd. Everyone was always surprised when he told them his job was an Engineer not a Security Officer.

The man had recently been posted elsewhere, however had been reassigned to the academy in recent days. He’d never seen himself educating Star Fleet’s newest officers before, but he honestly didn’t mind the thought of it. He’d built a wealth of experience over the years and he figured he may as well pass it forward somehow. There was no point hoarding all of the knowledge to himself and all that.

With cheesy grin still plastered on his face, the new Chief Engineer approached the Captain’s ready room, took a second to straighten his uniform and gave a polite knock.

“Come in!” Aaron called through the door as it opened. He was leaning back in his desk chair, legs up on the desk, and a large book resting on his legs. “Give me just one second,” he said trailing off.

After a couple of seconds, he picked up a bookmark from his desk and slid it into the current page. Closing the book, he set it on the desk with a small thud. Swinging his legs down, he sat up in his chair and pivoted towards the door.

“What can I do for you Lieutenant…” he trailed off realizing he didn’t recognize the man.

The larger gentleman entered the room, smiling.

His eyes darted around the Captain’s office and he took note of the book on the desk. Instantly he was building a picture in his head of his new Captain, a man who liked his downtime with a book. Scott wasn’t one for reading personally, unless it was a manual on how to put things together, but he’d never begrudge someone a hobby that brought them peace.

“Captain” he spoke, his voice unintentionally booming around the office. He was a loud man, as large in volume as he was in stature. “Lieutenant Scott Winterbourne, believe I’ve been brought in to be your new man downstairs in Engineering” he spoke, offering the Captain a PaDD with his transfer orders upon it.
