Suddenly, the ship shook like it had been hit (while still at warp). Power flickered and the ship went automatically to red alert.

“We took a direct hit to power distribution on Deck 5! It causes uneven power throughout the deck and is spreading,” one of the NEs called out. “Blown EPS relays, manifold glitches. I’m not sure we can keep steady power to essential systems.”

Tor looked around and spied the new Cadet and yelled “Garret! With me!” Just then the comms activated. =^=Foley to Engineering. How bad is it?=^= Tor tapped his commbadge and said =/\= Tor here, Captain. It’s bad. We need to take all systems off line for at least ten minutes so we can cycle the relays, clear the overloads, and recalibrate the power distribution. And we need to drop warp now! =/\= He looked at Garret and said “Start taking all non-essential systems off line right away at their main power junctions. Prioritize safety systems and life support for remaining online… and weapons and shields. And Cadet?” He looked at the fledgling officer and set a large blue hand on their shoulder. “That impact felt like something hit us… meaning a weapon. I may be wrong, but take a phaser with you, okay?” He nodded and then went to the Main Engineering Control station and began trying to get ahead of the cascading power surges.

“Lieutenant Tor, I need a full report on the structural integrity of Deck 5. Prioritize repairs on life support and containment fields.”

“Lieutenant Lis, since the cargo is fine, you can review senor data and see if we can determine how the Orions manage to catch us off guard, and Lieutenant Tor, coordinate getting the systems are back online, then make sure repairs on Deck 5 are underway afterwards.”

The cascade had made it to the Quantum Physics Lab and shut it down and some parts of engineering, but so far hadn’t affected critical systems. But there was notable damage to relays around Holodecks 1 and 2.
