USS Challenger
Counselor's Office - Cadet Kaano Idos Check-In
Coming from a family of healers and doctors, many of which were of advanced years and lived through the entirety of the Bajoran Occupation, the importance of mental health, in conjunction with physical health, was drilled into him from his earliest years. There weren’t many of his family that went into the psychological field, but the few that did were always well respected for their choice.
With those teachings in mind, Idos’ order to report to the ship’s counselor was one of the less anxious appointments that were required of him.
While training at Starbase 113, Idos had availed himself of the rare opportunity to meet with a few of the remarkably talented counselors that served aboard the station. He made it part of his routine to speak to one of the counselors bi-monthly to keep his mind in as good of shape as he could. There were countless studies showing the stress that higher education could put on someone, and Idos was adamant about keeping himself in the best shape that he could. Be it physical, mental, or spiritual.
With the much smaller crew complement of the Challenger, aside from other cadets, he assumed the majority of his mental healthcare would come from the ship’s head counselor. He very much hoped they would share an easy and friendly rapport.
As he always did before meeting someone new, Idos closed his eyes for a moment, and prayed to the Prophets for strength, before he tapped the button for the door chime outside Counselor Halcyone’s office.
