OOC: Hi, and welcome to the Challenger! I’m Anna, and I’ll be doing your medical check-in. I’m still a Cadet, and pretty new to STF myself, but hopefully I can help you get started! Your DH and our ship councilor will help you learn the ins and outs of STF, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask!
Your first post was really well done, you gave lots of great insight into Noah with just a couple of lines!
Currently, I’m writing Out Of Character (OOC), which I’m showing by putting an “OOC:” at the front of my text. Below, I’ll post my In Character text using “IC:”.
Just one thing to point out, I know it’s easy to forget, but it’s important to sign your posts after posting them. It helps everybody keep track of who said what.

IC:
Another new cadet? thought Carmen. She had already finished two medical check-ins that morning, not that she really minded. She liked meeting new people, and being in sickbay meant that she met most everyone who came to the ship. “Hi, Noah! I’m Carmen, and I can help get your check-in started.” she said with a smile. “Just come this way,” she said, leading him over to a bio-bed. “Please, sit down.” she said, before grabbing a PADD and pulling up a medical file. While she was getting it all set up, she looked over at the cadet. “How are you doing today?”

OOC: Thank you for the warm welcome!

IC: Noah sat awkwardly on the bed instantly transported to childhood memories of being in the doctors office. At least this doctor seemed around his age although he felt the faint embarrassment of once again towering over someone.

“I’m good thanks. I want to say excited but honestly I’ve been more nervous then anything else since I arrived. Being assigned to a real ship like this is something I never really expected.” Noah fiddled with his hands. He knew it probably wouldn’t take long, he’d never suffered from any medical problems before, but he found it difficult to sit like this for too long.

He tried his best to make conversation. “So…have you been a medic for long?”

OOC: Of course! Also, you don’t need to snip every post, you want people to have enough context to follow the story. My personal rule of thumb is to keep at least one post from everyone participating in the thread, but that depends on context. You’ll get the hang of it soon. :D

IC:
“Everyone gets nervous, the Four Deities know that I was my first day.” she said with a reassuring smile. Her Betazoid side could feel his restlessness, something she was very familiar in medicine. Lots of people are uncomfortable around doctors. She placed down her PADD and pulled out her tricorder, prepping it for a scan.
“I’ve only been on the Challenger for a month, but I’ve been working with medicine, well, my whole life, really. My father was a doctor, and I spent a lot of time helping him.”
Carmen started scanning her patient. “This will only take a moment,” she said.

Noah did his best to sit still and be a good patient. He couldn’t help himself fill the silence. “My dad is a fisherman, so not really the kind of job you can do in Starfleet.”

He looked at the scanner, somewhat enraptured by its glow. They were incredible pieces of technology really, when you stopped to think about it.

“A fisherman? I don’t think I’ve ever been fishing.” said Carmen, working as she spoke. She finished off her scan, the results were good. “You look good, totally healthy,” she said, typing a couple things into her PADD as she spoke. “I just have a couple quick questions, and then you’re free to go. First, do you have any past medical conditions I should be aware of?”

Noah shook his head quickly, “No. Got lucky in life I guess.”
