Benem frowned, unsure of what Anders meant for a second. As far as he knew, he had to go through Security to get where he wanted. He wasn’t the son of an Admiral, so it wasn’t as if he was going to get special treatment–if he wanted to be a Helm Officer he was going to have to prove he had what it takes.

“The yellow, sir,” Benem answered with a playful grin and tugged at his still pip-less collar. “It really brings out the color in my eyes.” He followed up with a shrug and quickly adding, “I may have my goals, sir, but I want to be useful to Starfleet until I get there. I figured shuttle pilot and security officer went hand in hand.”

Kyle chuckled, “Forgive me Cadet, it’s been a long day.” Anders made a note on his PADD to remember to get the young Trill into Holodeck piloting simulations, “So, is the role of helmsman where you want to be for the rest of your career in Starfleet?”

“I know that where I want to be now and for the next few years,” Benem replied. His eyes were drawn to the PADD that the Lieutenant was using but from this angle the trill couldn’t see anything. Instead, he chose to elaborate on his answer, “I wouldn’t mind being a Captain, some day. I want to explore, and see things no one has ever seen before.”
