Dael looked around at the cadets moving back and forth throughout the hub of activity that Engineering had become these past 12 hours. Start of a first mission assignment for many, while they didn’t foresee any trouble, he knew that everything needed to be at the ready just in case. He had even gotten in a few Jefferies’ tubes himself to make sure some EPS connections were in good shape. Can’t have the cadets have all the fun.

“Alright everyone, you heard the Captain, let’s make sure the Challenger rides as smooth as she should.” He turned to the cadets he had assembled by the main readout of the ship’s systems. They had been showed a lot of promise over the past 12 hours as his team prepared for the assignment ahead. He hoped that the trend would continue, as well as the good condition of his ship.

“Alright, Cadet Las, coordinate with the Science department, I believe they’re in Science Lab 1. The whole point of us being here is to do some cartography of this sector. See what you can do from here to give them the most bang for their platinum with these scans.” he said with a smile and turned to the other cadet in front of him.

“Cadet Rodriguez, during the briefing I was told that Valakis is home to a warp capable society but not quite on our level. I’d like to see if we have any information in the databanks on the designs and specs for their vessels. It may not come up, but you never know what kind of information we’ll need moving forward.”

He turned as another cadet got his attention by a panel that they had removed to inspect some hardware. He nodded and looked over at the two cadets. “I’ll be right over there if you need me.” he said before moving over to the cadet, getting down on a knee and inspecting the regulator unit they had brought to his attention.
