Crew Lounge - Off Duty Meet and Greet
Posted by Cadet Maximilian Woolley (Doctor) in Crew Lounge - Off Duty Meet and Greet
It took Max a few days to venture outside of the straight path between his quarters and sickbay. He had barely seen his roommate due to alternate shifts. The stress of the new environment threw him into a cycle of sleeping when he wasn’t working, a cycle he felt he needed to break for his own mental and physical health. Arriving back at his quarters he sat on the foot of his bed.A PaDD sat near his pillow. He knew that he could pick it up and resume his book. He was also aware that if he lay down and started reading, he would fall asleep just as he had done on every other night. He drummed his fingers on the firm mattress for a moment before walking to the replicator.
==C== “Computer…” Max said, waiting for the chirp of the computer’s acknowledgment. “Recreation package #12 as designed by Maximilian Woolley, please.” Moments later the items materialized. Max anticipated the need to let off some steam and had designed recreation kits to be easily replicated. While his classmates spent their efforts on complex holodeck programs, Max diverted his attention to creating objects that would allow him to relieve stress and tedium without the illusion of physical escape.
Max picked up his items, arranged neatly on a tray, and headed to the crew lounge. There he took up temporary residence at a table near a window and set up the tabletop easel, securing a stretched canvas onto its frame. Lifting the palette, already adorned with blobs of oil paint, he dabbed at them with a brush, pleased to see that they had the right consistency. That was something that took quite a bit of effort in designing for an easily replicable package.
The lounge was bare. Perfect for starting on something like this. He dabbed the brush in the black and drew the color across the canvas. Whatever he painted, it was likely to be set in the vastness of space. For Max, he did not want to escape the wonders around him, he simply wanted to enjoy them outside the rigors of work for a little bit. Though he enjoyed the quiet and the act of his brushstrokes, he also hoped that maybe some of his fellow cadets would find their way to the lounge and he might meet someone without them being injured first.
Dr. Maximilian Woolley, Medical
Starr was trying something new today for his meal. It was something that another cadet recommended, he never had Ulan Soup, and thought he would give the Vulcan dish a try tonight. It was at that point that Woolley came in with an Easel. An old form of recreational activity, one that he respected, but he wasn’t a fine artist. It wasn’t his art form. He had seen this new cadet once or twice around, and during his physical saw him working on somebody else.
Starr was having some food, and went over to the table “This seat taken?” asked a southern-british accent, almost like a British farmer’s accent, but not as extreme. Standing before him was a man just under 6 foot tall.
Seeing the Starfleet medical insignia, he said “It’s good to get to the know the Doctors on a ship, especially in my department, you never know which ones are going to be treating ya in the future, Cadet Starr, Security” he said, extending a hand as an introduction.
