There are multiple openings across the club for mentors on ships. Typically mentors are assigned to new members that have chosen to bypass the Academy. They are also assigned new graduates when they leave the Academy to help them transition into the main fleet.

Requirements for mentors are as follows:

• A minimum of three months’ membership. Exceptions must be approved by the Academy Commandant.
• Must show a history of Posting Effort. Which means you must stay with in AWOL limits and have quality posts.
• You would be appropriate to be assigned as such. This means that you have been on the ship long enough to explain and help a new crew member navigate what makes that ship unique.
• A mentor is not required to serve as a mentor on every ship they are a member of.
• Mentors must commit to contacting new members assigned to them within 72 hours of them being assigned.
• Mentors must also periodically check in with their mentored members if only to touch base and make sure there are no issues to address.
