Section 1 - (35 Marks Available)

Answer both questions below:

1. In your own words and from your own viewpoint define or explain the following:

   b. The pros and cons of playing a Marine (10)

2. Create a character using the following guide. This character must be completely original and not one of your existing characters. Marks will be awarded for realism, spelling, grammar and presentation. Include the following in your bio:

Section 2 - (15 + 5 Bonus Marks Available )

Answer the questions below.

1. Explain what the standard combat load out for a Marine is. Explain who is qualified to use the various weapons groups. Select one weapon from each group and explain who within the unit would utilize it. (5 Marks)

2. Using your recently created character, create a post for the following scenario using all standard club rules for posting: You are a new Marine officer on a ship conducting an inspection of your area… You hear an argument coming from one of the passageways, and find a Marine arguing with a Fleet crew member. Write out the scene, IC, of how you deal with the situation. (10 Marks, 5 Bonus Marks for effective use of at least one NE’s)

Section 3 - (40 Marks Available)

Answer the questions below

1. Describe how to construct a TB combat post (5 Marks)

2. Explain what moding is and why we shouldn’t do it (5 Marks)

3. Explain why we don’t auto action other people’s characters (10 Marks)

4. Construct a turn-based combat post utilizing your previously created character and a fellow Marine using the holodeck as a training exercise. You will play both characters, and the combat should take at least three turns per side. (20 Marks)

Section 4 - (45 Marks Available)

Answer the questions below

1. Describe the role of the Corpsman with relation to the Marines and Starfleet. (5 Marks)

2. Utilizing your previously created character and taking into account the implied development of them, create an IC post based on the following scenario.

You are a Marine Captain, the platoon leader for a detail assigned to a Pendragon-class starship. A group of Orion slavers have landed on the planet below you and are ransacking a small town, capturing civilians for sale and stealing everything of worth. Dialogue has proven non-productive, and the Captain of the ship has formally requested Marine assistance in dealing with the matter. Your Commanding Officer has agreed and put you in charge of the ground action. Your goals are simple, at least on paper: Eliminate the hostile threat. Rescue and protect any non-combatants. Defend the town from any repercussions until more help can arrive.

For this exercise, you will be expected to write a vivid and compelling narrative incorporating the use of NE Marines and rank structures, solid tactical reasoning and deployment of forces; as well as detailed combat descriptions and character interactions. (40 Marks)
