Design History: STF used the Colorado-class Runabout for almost three years - from June 1998 to May 2001. When the Engineering Department established a standardized format for specifications, nobody updated the Colorado-class to fit that format. Thus, the Engineering Department retired the Colorado-class on May 15, 2001.
Colorado Class Runabout v 6.1

The Colorado Class Runabout is runabout designed for Star Fleet to be used in a situation where faster speed or higher power shielding was needed, but a mission did not constitute a larger vessel.
Crew

Its crew is between 1 to 5 people with enough sleeping room for 3 people.
The Maximum number of people at any time is 7 crew, passengers, etc. This should only occur in emergency situations.

Shielding

With the adding of space in the runabout larger shield generators have been installed. They have been tested to hold at 267% of what a usual runabout shielding system can generate.

Interior Layout

The Colorado Class has a forward bridge section. There are cots which can be pulled from the floor for missions were extra sleeping is necessary.
In the Aft section there are two compartments: 1) Sleeping quarters. Two crew can be accommodated here. 2) Engineering. Hatches and core access allow this ship to be maintained in flight. There has also been room added between the ships major systems, and the size of the runabout was increased from it’s Danube class predecessor. This will increase the Colorado’s ability to stay on a long term mission.

Runabouts that would be commissioned should Star Fleet approve this project: The classification system is that of choosing the name of a state, province, or region of a country, or that country itself. Please note that since these are runabouts, that these are just the first series of ships. Runabouts have the tendency to be used fast, and more names will be proposed as necessary.
