Almost 16 months ago, Seamus Hughes formalized the organization of the NMC in edict. A lot of time has passed, and they’ve done some good work.
However, as I noted during my campaign, newbies aren’t necessarily the only qualified people to work toward retaining newbies. Plus the NMC has had more advisors for a while than members (which isn’t necessarily bad, but maybe it should be called the New Member Advisors Committee). And I don’t believe (though I could be wrong) that the NMC has ever actually held an election to select their chairman as per edict. Finally, any group of people in STF can band together to make their voice heard; official presidential advisory committee status is not required.
Therefore, I do hereby rescind Edict Hughes-2. The NMC is no longer an official PAC. It is free to continue to exist however, in whatever form is so desires. It is free to establish for itself membership requirements, advisor requirements, chairman election procedures, and so on, without presidential interference.
