The life of the president is really pretty easy (when he’s not being labelled dictatorial, anyway). <insert big cheesy grin here> But seriously, while what he does is of value to STF, it’s not the president that is responsible for the day to day activities of STF. Not even the cabinet, really. The most important ‘management’ positions in STF are the COs, as they are the day to day managers that make things work and ensure that the other members have a fun and enjoyable RP experience.
When a CO is too busy with other tasks, unable to fulfill that day to day management position, it is expected that he should step down, yielding the position to another deserving person with more time.
Well kids, I’ve hit that wall. I’ve made as many excuses to myself that I’d be able to step up and do the job right soon, but soon seems to never come along. And in the meantime, a ship has had to all but do without her captain and without a GM. That is plainly unacceptable. The last month has been worsened by the fact that my home computer died and I’m unsure as to when I’ll be able to replace it.
Effective immediately, I do tender my resignation as CO of the USS Endeavor in Fleet 5, which I readily accept.
For those of you who are happy that this means I will be stepping down as president, stop celebrating already!
For those of you who fear this means I will be stepping down as president, don’t fear. I do still have internet access, and am more than up to the task of being president plus RPing. It’s just best that I don’t maintain a command position just because I can. I wanted the position at the time Seamus promoted me to captain and CO of the Concorde, and I hope at some point down the road, after I’ve left the presidency and have fewer issues to deal with, that I might have the opportunity again. For now, though, I must do what is right and best for the Endeavor, Fleet 5, and STF.
During the slowdown on Endeavor over the last months, there has been one constant… her XO, Ryan Williams. Ryan has really stepped up to the plate and tried to keep her running. There is only so much a single person can do without a CO or GM present, and I think Ryan did all he possibly could. Anything ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ with Endeavor can and should be placed squarely at my feet.
Effective immediately, Ryan Williams is promoted to Captain and appointed CO of the USS Endeavor in Fleet 5. Work things out as you deem best in aborting the previous sim and getting her back on track. We’ve already discussed my characters exit, I’ll probably make a final appearance or two just to wrap up my character, but in no way does that leave me in command. She is your ship now. Congratulations Ryan, and take care of her.
