There has been a great deal of discussion recently about the potential for a new ship, cutting ships we have, how to keep this thing we all care about afloat. It is my personal assessment that what we need is more people. People need opportunity. Opportunity to be promoted, to take new roles on new ships. The cuts that have been made have been made and there is no due cause to undo them. But there is no due cause to inhibit a crew ready and eager to write together. I hereby commission the IRW Rovarran to serve in the Meridian Fleet, on the charter below.
The Keldrak-class IRW Rovarran will be structured the same as a Standard Ship and shall be commanded by a CO and XO who are appointed the same way as on a Standard Ship and a GM who is appointed the same way as a Standard Ship. The Rovarran shall be set in the time period of year 2364 to 2370, with the exact game year specifically left vague. The ship is an Imperial Romulan Warbird and operates within Romulan and unclaimed space during this era, and its sims will entail such.
Missions and characters should adhere as closely as possible to the canon of the time period with respect to concepts including, but not limited to: * Technology * Known Races * Relationships between the Romulan Star Empire and other known powers.
Canon for the TNG-era shall be defined by both Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as any other live-action Star Trek movies and television series depicting the same time period. Novels and other soft-canon works depicting Romulans during this era shall also be permitted. This includes information from Memory Alpha and Beta, as well as any sources of Romulan culture but not events from the Modiphus, FASA Star Trek Roleplaying Game (From the 1980s), and Last Unicorn Games Star Trek tabletop RPGs (from the mid-90’s).
The crew of the IRW Rovarran shall be structured in a manner consistent with the TNG-era Romulans. The CO may rename departments and may add additional swing positions so as to maintain a TNG-era Romulan RPG environment, but there shall be a security department, a science department, a medical department and an engineering department. The IRW Rovarran’s XO must concurrently hold a Department Head position.
Ranks on the IRW Rovarran will count towards member rank within the club, however, the following ranks will be used instead of their Starfleet equivalents.
Commander (Captain)
Subcommander (Commander)
Centurion (Lt Commander)
Subcenturion (Lieutenant)
Lieutenant (Lieutenant JG)
Sublieutenant (Ensign)
The enlisted rank of Uhlan will exist for characters that may be enlisted.
Characters that are members of the Tal Shiar will not be allowed. This is to ensure the focus is on Imperial Navy activities rather than intelligence (or counter-intelligence)
CO and XO positions on the Rovarran will count fully towards any limits in place. The Rovarran will not accept new members to STF; it is a Second Character Only ship.
The ship must maintain a crew that is primarily Romulan, Reman, or an STF-approved custom slave race from the GM department or provide the CO and XO a custom-race primer for them to approve. Characters who are part-Romulan will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
The IRW Rovarran will use the slow posting rate as per STF.
The IRW Rovarran will have a 90 day review period, after which it will remain permanent as long as it follows the following criteria:
It maintains a healthy roleplaying environment with a crew who remain largely within the outlined AWOL guidelines
It continues to deliver stories and scenarios based within the time period of the Next Generation and within the area designated as Romulan Space.
Any command or senior staff vacancies are filled within 14 days where possible
I wish this ship success and no matter what, may its fate be determined by its merits. We can only turn our eyes towards our membership numbers and hope to commission many more ships to accommodate that membership.
