The Discovery-class starship, USS Apollo, NCC-85722, is hereby commissioned in the Academy Fleet. Phillip Stonness is appointed as the USS Apollo’s CO.
Although the USS Apollo was not previsiouly listed as Discovery-class starship, it was felt that the Academy theme of manned spaceflights should be continued (and the remaining Space Shuttle names were already in use).
