Edict #5 USS Challenger 6 Month Hiatus

After consideration of the concerns raised and in agreement with the recommendation put forward by Louis, it is hereby ordered that the Academy ship USS Challenger will enter a six (6) month hiatus, effective immediately.
This hiatus is intended to allow time for focused follow-up discussions with the membership, ensuring that engagement levels, training needs, and long-term viability of the Academy program are properly assessed before any permanent decisions are made. The intent of this hiatus is not inactivity, but deliberate reflection, consultation, and dialogue, so that any future course of action is informed, transparent, and grounded in member feedback.
During this hiatus:
• No permanent decommissioning actions will be taken with regard to USS Challenger.
• Membership discussions and feedback regarding the Academy and training structure will be actively encouraged.
• Findings and recommendations will be compiled and presented for review prior to the conclusion of the six-month period.
At the end of this hiatus, the status of the Academy ship USS Challenger will be formally reassessed, and a determination will be made based on the outcomes of these discussions and the best interests of the club.

The Personnel Department is hereby directed to place all new members on an appropriate ship, and to coordinate with the Academy to make sure an appropriate mentor is assigned.
