Effective immediately, the USS Saracen is to be formally decommissioned. This decision comes only after discussion with her Commanding Officer, who has devoted commendable effort to sustaining the vessel and its community. Despite these efforts, it has become evident that there is not sufficient member interest currently to keep the Saracen active and healthy within the Fleet.
This action is taken with deep appreciation for all who served aboard her. Decommissioning does not diminish the legacy of the Saracen—it simply acknowledges our responsibility to ensure that our resources and membership remain vibrant, engaged, and well-supported. Should interest arise in the future, the Saracen may yet see a new chapter, ready to return to service when the Fleet once again calls for her.
