Pursuant to the authority vested in the Office of the President, the following directive is hereby issued and takes effect immediately. Following the vacancy in command of the USS Manhattan, I, in consultation with the Fleet Council Chairman, do hereby appoint Terry Sullivan as the Commanding Officer of the USS Manhattan, effective immediately.
Before addressing this appointment, I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to James Sinclair for his previous service as Commanding Officer of the USS Manhattan. His dedication and efforts on behalf of the ship and her crew are recognized and appreciated, and I thank him for the time and commitment he devoted to the command.
The USS Manhattan has experienced a difficult period in recent months. Like any ship facing challenges, restoring her to full strength will require patience, determination, and strong leadership. There is much work ahead to rebuild activity, strengthen the crew, and return the Manhattan to the standard of excellence expected of a Star-Fleet command.
For these reasons, I have every confidence that Terry Sullivan is the right person to lead this effort. As a former Commanding Officer with extensive experience in leading Star-Fleet vessels, Terry brings a wealth of knowledge, proven leadership, and a steady hand to the center seat. The challenges facing the Manhattan are significant, but I am confident that Terry possesses the experience and dedication necessary to guide the ship through this period of renewal and into a successful future.
On behalf of the Office of the President and the Fleet Council, I congratulate Terry Sullivan on this appointment and look forward to seeing the USS Manhattan flourish under his leadership.
I ask the officers and crew of the USS Manhattan to offer Terry their full support as he assumes command and begins the important work of leading the ship into its next chapter.
