“Our policies should empower our members, not limit their opportunities to contribute.”
Following a proposal submitted by Gamemaster Director Ryan Williams and a successful discussion in Command, there was overwhelming support to amend the Gamemaster Training Program to better reflect the diversity of Star Trek settings represented throughout Star-Fleet.
The restriction requiring Gamemaster Trainees to train only on a Standard Roleplaying Area no longer reflects the way our club operates today. This amendment provides greater flexibility by allowing Gamemaster Trainees to train on any approved roleplaying area while maintaining the integrity of the mentorship process.
Amendment
Point 2 of the Gamemaster Training Program Procedure
Previous Text
“The Gamemaster Trainee and Mentor pair are responsible for developing a mission plan and finding a Ship on which to train. The ship must be a Standard Roleplaying Area, not an Alternative Role-Playing Area. They may request the assistance of the Gamemaster Department in this matter.”
The second sentence—
“The ship must be a Standard Roleplaying Area, not an Alternative Role-Playing Area.”
—is hereby stricken in its entirety.
Revised Text
“The Gamemaster Trainee and Mentor pair are responsible for developing a mission plan and finding a Ship on which to train. They may request the assistance of the Gamemaster Department in this matter.”
Rationale
This amendment allows Commanding Officers of both Standard and Alternative Roleplaying Areas to mentor Gamemaster Trainees and enables the Gamemaster Department to focus on the quality of mentorship and opportunity rather than a ship’s classification.
Thank you to Ryan Williams, Gamemaster Director, for bringing this proposal forward and for his continued commitment to strengthening the Gamemaster Department.
This amendment is effective immediately and I would like to ask the Librarian to amend the relevant Library section at his convenience.
