“That’s what you get for missing staff meetings, Doctor.”
The first end-of-term promotion goes to a member who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes in their dual roles as both Captain and Fleet Commander. Since taking command of the USS Memorial, Rick has been consistently diligent in maintaining it as a healthy and active RP environment, even through an extended period without a GM - a challenge that would have caused many ships to falter.
As Fleet Commander of Meridian Fleet, he has performed equally impressively. Rick has kept the fleet on track by holding COs to account, monitoring ship health across the term, and making difficult but necessary decisions when required. He has consistently demonstrated an accurate and realistic understanding of activity levels, quickly identifying when a ship was struggling and proactively raising concerns before they became larger problems. He has also offered thoughtful and constructive options to help stabilise vessels and support their crews, often before being asked.
Most importantly, Rick’s communication throughout the term has been exemplary. He has been reliable, responsive, and honest - providing timely updates, escalating issues appropriately, and providing support with a calm professionalism that has been invaluable. At every stage, Rick has shown himself to be solution-focused, committed to the good of the fleet, and willing to shoulder additional burdens to ensure the club continues to run smoothly.
Therefore, without further ado, I hereby promote Richard Gruby to the rank of Fleet Captain, with all the rights and privileges of that rank.
