Once Hunter got lifted up by the strong former MACO now turned security officer, he would be able to easily steady himself on her shoulders. From there peering into the left corner service housing he could at first seem that his visual inspections matched his scans. Then he would notice something out of place, in this case there was a small 3 by 3 inch square cube attached to the upper diagnostics housing of the comm/local sensor/wild life projector system. Checking his tricorder again he would find that scans showed nothing was amiss, yet his eyes couldnt be lying to him since he saw it. Maybe the out of place device was putting out some kind of dampening or sensor masking field?

Once he had done this he would indeed find the signs of a sensor masking system, unfortunately the device was no clearer in what it was doing other then interfacing and presumably preventing the repairs they had made to the comm/sensor/wild life projector systems from operating correctly. Maybe if he removed it? But how? And what might happen if he did?

Hunter was shocked at what he had just found. He was not sure what to do. As he adjusted the scans from his tricorder to see if he could pick up the item he had just found.

Hunter grabbed his communicator and opened it. =^= Chief Fleet can you meet with me I found something you might be of interest?” Hunter said with a bit of alarm to his voice. As he attempted to probe the device with another scanning device. Since his tricorder was useless at that moment. He left the communicator open to wait to hear from the chief while he continued to look over the device and the equipment to make sure there were no other surprises. “Lina there us a small 3-inch by 3-inch box cube in here. It’s attached to the upper diagnostics housing of the comm/local sensor/wildlife projector system. My Tricorder shows nothing is there but I see it clear as day.” Hunter gave Lina a visual inspection of the device even though she could not see it currently.

“Sounds like a disruption unit,” Lina said between adjustments of her standing. Having someone stand on your shoulders was no the easiest feat in the world “If it’s masked then we can assume it’s not supposed to be there. I doubt the chief can be here anytime soon, do you think you can remove it without triggering some sort of fail safe?” She asked as she adjuster herself from a slight wobble. “You’re going to have to make an educated guess entirely based on how it looks unless you can deactivate it without removing it.”

“All I can do is try.” Hunter said calmly to the security officer as his communicator started crackling as he gave in and closed it and put it away. He knew the security officer was making logical sense about the situation. “He grabbed a laser cutter to cut the area enough to get the piece off the unit is hoping to restore the proper functioning of the array. He grabbed an old trusty plain screwdriver as he used it to help pry the light cube loose. “I think I got it!” as he grabbed the cube with a rubber-gloved hand. as he lifted the little box off the array. and placed the little cube into a containment box. Just in case it tried to explode or something. “Now to make sure all the other components are ok and there weren’t damaged by me prying on the computer board.” Hunter said as he tried not to wiggle to much.

Thankfully Hunter didnt find any explosive in the device, as he removed it with the last wire, it came loose with a small spark of electricity which jolted his left arm a little but didnt do any real damage. With a small whir the comm/sensor array for the colony and the nearby animal warding field emitters came online without a problem!

Hopping off the security officer he had a moment to look over his finding, the device was in the open sunlight a darker green in color, with a small finger sized battery charging unit to power it. No markings of any clear type were present, but a small blinking light on the top had as he was looking at it begun to blink at a steady pulse every half second or so.

No sooner had he noticed this then Lina would notice the forest around them had suddenly gotten deathly quiet beyond the barely felt hum of the animal warding emitters. Maybe it was her combat instincts or luck, or something else but a random movement of her stance to the right just by a half a foot meant that as a sudden lance of green disruptor energy came down from the nearby tree line it missed hitting her head by that much instead hitting searing a nearby branch!

Another lance of disruptor energy from Hunter’s right also up on the hill also barely missed the engineer. The pair it seems were under attack!! Unfortunately attempts to use the comm units failed whoever was attacking it seems was somehow blocking their efforts to call for help!
