A nearby man muttered as he was tightening a spanner bolt to a machine, “..Brain dead fleeters, wanna help treat the sick you come to a pump instead of the actual sick..” he muttered just within hearing range. Thankfully the rest of the folks present gave him an annoyed look but said nothing else returning to some kind of work on the large water pump. That said scans that Usus took showed that there were some viral elements slipping through the half-broken pump, likely their source was coming up stream somewhere into some nearby woods and hills. Security could probably track the source if they wanted, it might be worth while depending. Any deeper scans would need to be studied with the colony’s or more likely Unity’s medical equipment.

”..To be honest we could use some engineering expertise here, or parts for this pump and some others along the line, not to mention help fending off the local wild life, our sonic repulsors mostly got scrapped or damaged over the years for other uses..” the mid-20s woman said.

Usus heard the man and went to talk back but remembered to be friendly. “Ok it seems the water could use some purification quickly, or we risk a large amount of people sick from it.” He hit his comm badge.

He walked over to the man from before and squatted by him. “If we don’t stop the source we can’t stop the spread. We are here to help, but we can’t if you don’t trust us to do our work.”

Marinna looked at the doctor, smiled at the thought that he had forgotten that the Chief of Security was already there.

“What do your scans show doctor?” She asked, standing nearby as she watched the doctor do some scans.

“To make sure of that I will need to check the scans from the ship. From what I’ve gathered it is dangerous if we don’t do something.” He got up and started to pace. “Ma’am,” He walked up to the unknown woman. “What disease is causing the most trouble right now in the colony?”

”..The only real disease sometimes cropping up now and then is one of a local flu like strain, right now its mostly hitting a few children in the main colony area. No ones died from it yet though..nor come close..” she mentioned

“Where is the source of the disease?” Marinna asked, “I could scout around and look while you talk?” she suggested to the CMO.

”..Beats me you would have to ask one of the medical folks back in the main colony, they think its partly due to the water or plant life up stream from the colony, but our filters havent yet identified any containment, but then again their kinda old and running on improvised scanners in some cases so we could be missing something. So far though it hasnt caused any deaths and those who do get effected recover usually in a day or three..” She said

“It might be the water, or some sort of seasonal disease. Inoculations against it may be needed. If I can get a sample of it I can make something to help the children.” He turned to the COS. “If you can, try to get some infected to one place in the colony so I can give out the inoculations.”

”..If you think you got your magic medicine ready to cure folks then I would say go to the main colony center, and school where they’re currently at isolated till they get better. It’s not many really, last I knew the other day before you all got here it was like 12 of the kids and maybe an adult or two..” she explained.
