Thankfully Hunter didnt find any explosive in the device, as he removed it with the last wire, it came loose with a small spark of electricity which jolted his left arm a little but didnt do any real damage. With a small whir the comm/sensor array for the colony and the nearby animal warding field emitters came online without a problem!

Hopping off the security officer he had a moment to look over his finding, the device was in the open sunlight a darker green in color, with a small finger sized battery charging unit to power it. No markings of any clear type were present, but a small blinking light on the top had as he was looking at it begun to blink at a steady pulse every half second or so.

No sooner had he noticed this then Lina would notice the forest around them had suddenly gotten deathly quiet beyond the barely felt hum of the animal warding emitters. Maybe it was her combat instincts or luck, or something else but a random movement of her stance to the right just by a half a foot meant that as a sudden lance of green disruptor energy came down from the nearby tree line it missed hitting her head by that much instead hitting searing a nearby branch!

Another lance of disruptor energy from Hunter’s right also up on the hill also barely missed the engineer. The pair it seems were under attack!! Unfortunately attempts to use the comm units failed whoever was attacking it seems was somehow blocking their efforts to call for help!

Lina grabbed the engineer’s collar “Run!” She yelled. With her rifle still slung across her back she had no choice but to grab her Pistol. She pulled hunter as she started running to the nearest cover as she opened fire on the area that first shot at her.

Due to the direction of the weapons fire, the pair found cover about 10 yards left of the relay/comm arrays they had just repaired. Unfortunately they still had no comm access due to some kind of interference. Probably from whoever was attacking them. Lina’s return fire struck a tree up the hill but didnt seem to hit anyone. Another trio of energy beams struck down from the tree line, this time different from the ones before. Showing they had more attackers, or more likely their at least three attackers had moved from their original positions. Due to the thick brush and trees they still couldnt see who was attacking them.

Thankfully for now though this thickness worked both ways as the enemy force it seems had not quite pinned down their cover, which currently was behind some thick trees and a boulder made up of earth and quartz crystal.

Hunter kept under cover as he watched the other trying to deal with the attackers. As he drew his phaser and fired at one of the targets. trying to help cover Lina and the others. He attempted to see his next target and got ready to fire as he dodged a bolt of weapons fire that came to his direction.

As more shots rained down around them, and their own return fire came back, they caught a glimpse of something slightly leather looking and silvery toned in the deep shadows of the embattled woods up the hill. For Lina who had served near the tail end of the war, she would recognize the seemingly familiar sight of perhaps one of the Romulan ground troops. She would recall those troops seemed uncomfortable at the least in bright lighting, maybe if she had something to make a sudden flash of light it might run them off or least give them pause enough to bring them down?

Hunter’s own shots meanwhile had struck some trees, and made tiny little embers but so far at least he hadnt seemed to hit anyone of their attackers

Hunter was not sure of what to expect by this firefight but he kept his head down and fired only when he had a clear shot to do so. As he tried to figure out what to do next since he was pinned down his options were limited at present.”What do you think about this Lina?”

Marinna approached the hill and, once she heard the weapons fire ducked behind a tree to get a view of the firefight. She noticed the slivery toned leather. She pulled out her phaser and looked around for a good vantage point to set up a cross fire.

Lina looked over at the rockface near the device “Hostiles are dressed as Rommie soldiers. They don’t like light. Cover me” She turned around, aimed and fired at the rocks. This time on a much higher setting. hoping for the same reaction as before.

Hunter did his best to lay down cover fire for the officer. He will need to spend more time in Training sessions to get up to par with the rest of them but he was game. “Go!” Hunter said quickly as he started firing his weapon .
