T’Ral was in his office, when NE Curious came and asked him “Sir, someone from Starbase 214 reported that our ship was pinging on a starbase. It shouldn’t be. After all, I thought this was supposed to be a covert operation?” he asked. T’Ral looked toward him and simply asked “and is anybody on Starbase 214 read in on the Trenton’s mission?” T’ral asked the officer.“No sir, in fact - they have no business with this information,” the Ensign responded, worridly. T’ral thought about the issue, and then tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Lieutenat T’ral to Lieutenant Commander Falz. Has Starbase 214 been informed about our latest mission?” he asked. Starbase 214 was many lightyears away, and not even the starbase that the Trenton was based at. T’Ral’s logic told him there was no reason for them to have classified information on this vessel.

As T’Ral got reports that their movements should not have been given to Starbase 214, he decided to look into it a bit futher. He wanted to make sure there wasn’t a security breach, but the proof was hard to deny. Unless there was a reason for the comminque, then it could be putting the ship at risk. He put his findings onto a PaDD, and then tapped his commbadge. =/\=Lieutenant T’Ral to Captain Kaldland, I’ve found something… strange.=/\= he said simply, waiting to see if the captain was free to discuss it.

=/\=Get into my Ready room. ASAP.=/\= David said, closing down the work he was doing on a PaDD. Strange was never good on this ship.

BenOf course, there was no point being handed control of all the major systems and technologies on a starship if one did not use them to their own advantage. And so T’Ral had not been the only one to detect the covert communications between Trenton and Starbase 214…or the CoS’s attempt to raise it with the Captain. And so Tal’eran intended to make sure she was included in the conversation once it took place.
With that in mind, the Romulan presented herself at the office of the Security Chief to see what additional information she might be able to eke out of him.

T’Ral, seeing the Romulan, was not surprised. It was his job to know who was on the ship at all times, so he had already seen the orders come in for the new chief engineer. He raised an eyebrow when he saw the species in her file, but stepped out of his office as she approached. He also read about her skills, and even the captain’s information as to why she was chosen, at least a little. “Greetings, Lieutenant,” he said with a flat tone.

OOC: Since the CO has summoned T’Ral to the ready room since I made my last post, I’ll presume that he’s beginning to head there now, if that’s okay?
IC: It was obvious that she had caught the Trenton’s CoS on his way out. Making no apology for the interruption or no attempt to stall his movement, the Romulan engineer instead fell into stride beside him, as if wherever he was heading to, she would naturally be welcomed too.
“I hear,” she began in something of a stage whisper, “that you have detected some unusual communications activity from this vessel. Anything I, as the guardian of every system on this ship, need to be concerned with?”
- Lua Tal’eran (CE)
T’Ral looked toward the chief engineer. “There was an unauthorized transmission to Starbase 214,” he said, very pointedly as he made his way out of his office, the Chief Engineer following behind. He knew that she would be of use, so didn’t protest to the idea of her coming along. She would probably end up involved anyway, as nobody knew the systems of the ship better than the chief engineer. Seeing the potential help she would be, he waved her along and invited her to join him on the way to the captain. It would save him having to explain the situation twice.
Leaving the office and heading to the turbolift, he directed it towards the bridge and made his way to the captain’s ready room, looked over to the Chief Engineer, nodded, and pressed the chime on the door.

“Really?” Tal’eran replied as if hearing the details for the first time. “I would have expected this crew to be more careful than that. Perhaps our Captain is not as good a judge of character as I first believed.”
And with that, the Romulan stepped back and waited for their CO to appear.
- Lua Tal’eran (CE)
“It does seem illogical to risk giving away our position,” T’Ral responded. He then continued waiting, until invited in by the CO.

“It seems the Captain is quite popular at the moment,” Marcia said to the Romulan and the Vulcan, having just strolled up to them, “neither of you have been by sickbay yet, so I thought I’d come and find you two. Medicals, Lieutenants, we all hate them, but I have to do them, and you have to submit to them. I have my medical tricorder and I know how to use it. Despite what you may have heard, this won’t hurt a bit, at least it won’t hurt me a bit. Now then, who first?” and she looked from Romulan to Vulcan and back to the Romulan again.
