At 0900 the next day, Ensign MacMoragh walked into the main science lab; it was then he fully understood that he was the only science officer on duty at this time. As the station was still getting personnel, McMoragh would have to do his best to fill in the role. MacMoragh also knew that Starfleet did not really trust him, which is why he was sent to this outpost. They had given up after MacMoragh had been busted from Lt. (j.g.) to Ensign numerous times, but Riker was determined to make this a better assignment. Here, he was going to excel and get promoted to Lt. (j.g.) and stay there. Here, he would be a better officer and person; an officer that could both be trusted and that was a friend to his fellow officers.

Riker’s voice came as he walked in “Computer, recognize Science Officer, Ensign Riker MacMoragh, as assigned to this lab.”

A second or so latter the computer responded: “Ensign MacMoragh recognized; good morning.”

Riker rolled his eyes, “Good morning computer.”

With that Riker went to work....

About a half-hour passed and the CO of the station walked through the doors. In his hand was the ever-present mug of coffee. Looking around, a small frown creased his brow, and he looked across the room and said “Ensign. What do you think? What will it take to get everything up to speed here?”

Ensign McMoragh looked up and answered, “Captain, I think it will just be a matter of getting all the equipment hooked up and running; I am actually looking forward to performing some experiments, sir.”

Ferl’lak was on his way to the science station to check on his experimental durasteel hull plating. The science department was vacant for a long time ago he made use of the facilities and used his own materials and tools. No Starfleet items used. He decided to check on it before he went to his office and walked right in and saw a young Ensign and who of all people, the freaking Captain. He then tried to back away slowly and quietly.

Just then Riker saw someone else in the cornor of his eye, “Um..hello there....can I help you?” asked Riker.

Ferl’lak grinned sheepishly. He was caught. “Oh. Hello young man. I was…was.....just seeing how things were going but I see Taggart your busy so.....” He tried to walk backwards very slowly.

Feeling something was afoot Riker was not about to let this just go…

“Um…Can you please explain why you are in a restricted area without proper clearance?”
