Decker felt relaxed in his new office. Furniture was brought in, just as Gunny said it would be. Later he would decorate it, but all the same it was relaxing. He went over some of the personnel records of current staff who are on board. The CO has been in Star Fleet for a long time, and he knows what he’s doing. There’s the XO, a borg, or once a borg. Decker studied the info. He’s never seen, yet met a Borg, but he’ll have to make sure when he does, to study her very closely. She was a former intelligence office though.
The other Department Heads seem ok, the only staff member on board that looks as if anything remotely close to an issue could be Ensign Riker MacMoragh. A few disciplinary action, which resulted in reduction in rank.
The Decker remembered Gunnys report on the Orion pirate in holding. Other than Warrants on this guy, seems like there isn’t alot of information on him. Decker figured it was time to meet his first.
He got up from his desk, Padd in hand and walked to the brig area. With staff low, a civilian police officer has been standing guard.
Decker nodded at the guard who takes his leave to the next room. Decker walks into view of the big green Orion. The pirate seemed like he wasn’t paying attention or not caring that he had a visitor.
“Orion Darrok, known member of the Orion Syndicate, and known pirate of the Orion ship Moraz. You sit in Celk 4 of the Shipyard Swrenitys brig, being held here until transportation can take you to a Penal colony, or prison. While we have numerous warrants for you Darrok, while on the Serenity, you were in the Atlantis Lounge where you Assaulted the Lounge owner. Arrested for one count of Assault on a civilian, one count of Public Disorderly Conduct, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and one count of Resisting Arrest. Let’s not forget the rest of your rap sheet, with outstanding warrants.”
Decker did not like this guy one bit. He wanted to know one thing and one thing only. Getting an answer seemed lime it would not happen. He paused as he looked at his PADD.
“With that being said, do you mind telling me what in the hell are you doing in my shipyard?”
Decker tried to see if the Orion was even paying attention. He was looking away, as if he couldn’t hear the Security chief. The Orion was still silent.
Decker wasnt amused. He wanted answers, especially if he was here for alternative motives.
“Did the Orion Syndicate send you here? Are they planning to something here?”
He looked at the Green giant. Nothing, not even a look into his eyes. He thought of something, and hits his comm badge.
=^=Major Decker to Leuitenant Commandee Omni, could you please join me in the brig? I’m in need of assistance.=^=
=^=This is Commander Omni, I am on my way.=^= There was hardly any inflection within the deep, unnaturally baritone voice of the supposedly female officer. Just as quickly as the comm had come, it was abruptly cut off, with the simple: =^=Omni, out.=^=
The reformed Borg had not bothered the question what the security officer required from her. It seemed as if it would be nothing more than a waste of precious time, especially in the hectic chaos that the Serenity currently found themseves within. It was also a way of confidentiality, in case someone couldn’t or wouldn’t be said over the comms. Several points went into her choice to keep her words simplistic and short, but none of them happened to be entirely pitiful.
Navigating the halls of the base, she found herself ignoring majority of her surroundings, besides the people, so she wouldn’t find herself in an unsuspected collision. Omni could not say she knew by muscle memory, where the security deck was. However, she had studied the schematics enough times to have a fair idea of where everything was. Otherwise, she would be continuously a lost hound, without any indication of where she was trying to go.
Stepping into the brig, her hands found their way to the base of her back, calculating eyes surveying the room. She caught sight of the major, silently making her way to him and casting a glance at the Orion man, whom she found skepticism within. “Major Decker, What appears to be the issue?” The commander inquired, stealing another glance towards the unmoving Orion, as not to find herself caught off guard by any sudden movements.
Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XOSeeing the Lietenant Commander for the first time was interesting to say the least. The information he has on her was very little, but Deckee knew that with her experience in intelligence that perhaps, she could get the big man to talk, or rattled.
“Well Mam, I feel that this Orion, is hiding something as to why he’s here. With everything going on, it feels odd. He is a known pirate, his background is very colorful, to say the least. Numeeous warrants. For someone who is about to spend probably the rest of his life in prison, you’d think he’s talk. Hell, he hasn’t even asked for a lawyer.”
“Not odd at all, Major. It is not uncommon for Orions, or any prisoners, to hold themselves to the rule, I believer you call it the ‘Fifth Amendment.’” She began, “His silence allows him to keep himself from self-incrimination, a common response to being interrogated or scrutinized by an outside force, for information that one might be less than pleased to convey.”
Decker handed her the file he has on the Orion named Darrok. “He isnt wanting to talk, and he is definately hiding something.” Decker needed answers. He wasnt getting them from the Orion. He had to change tactics.
“Understood.” She spoke simplistically, almost to the point where it seemed nothing more than a monotonous response.
“”With your background in Intelligence, I was hoping you might be able to break him.”
“Major, I do not ‘break’ people.” If Omni were more emotional, there might have been offense within her words. However, they were merely factual. “However, I may be able to get him to speak.”
He stood there looking at the XO, hoping she would help.
Major Tyrell Decker - COS
She inclined her head to the CoS, making her way over to where the Orion was. She motioned for Decker to lower any forcefield, so that she could be nearer to him, without the inhibition of the field, which did add a certain hostility to her appearance. There was little reason to worry for the reformed drone, as she stood well over six feet and was made up of lean, lanky muscle. So, if the man attacked, she could hold her own enough to get out of there.

“Yes mam’” Decker called for the officer who was in here when he came in and ordered for him to draw his phaser and point it at the prisoner. He did the same, then went over to the panel, and joy the console to dismantle the field between the Orion Pirate and the XO.Major Tyrell Decker - COS
The Orion rolled over on the bunk and looked at the Lieutenant Commander. He yawned broadly and slowly sat up. “Star Fleet, huh?” and he looked past her to the Marine Major. “Might want to check with your boy over there, Missy. You are about to step on a whole mess of trouble you don’t need.” and he looked at Decker again. “You did tell her I am in Federation, not Star Fleet, custody; didn’t you, Major?” he asked with a twinkle in his eye.
Pirate Captain Bov, Federation Prisoner
Decker looked at the Green brute, and smirked.
“Take a look around Orion Darrok. You’re in a Star Fleet brig. The man who arrested you us a Federation Chief, but was also acting Chief of Security until I arrived. Once I relieved him, all things transferred to me. So, you either answer why your here in this ship yard, or the Commander here is gonna make you. And believe me Darrok, she will make you.:
Decker still had his phaser aimed, along with the duty officer who was in there. He knew if things went down, the stun setting will take the big green thing down.
Major Tyrell Decker COS
Bov laughed out loud. “Yeah, but he booked me on Federation charges, so I am in Federation custody.” and he slowly, very slowly due to the phasers aimed his way, stood up and moved to the back of the cell. “Look, man. This ain’t my first time doing this dance, but I guess it’s yours. You can’t talk to me without me having a legal representative. Which means you and …” and he jerked a thumb at Omni, “… Hull-breach model of the year can go skate.” and he crossed his arms across his chest and laughed again.
Pirate Captain Bov
Decker shook his head. He knew this over grown dimwit was right. He looked at the XO.
“Any suggestions mam?” Decker had this gut feeling that something wasnt right with the Orion being here. With all the problems going on, who’s to say the pirate wasnt the one involved.
Major Tyrell Decker - COS
“He isn’t wrong,” She remarked, a bit concerned as to why the CoS had not thought of getting a legal represetive, to make this a whole lot easier. However, with that being said, she would use her devices to get through this. “As a prisoner, he is under both the directive 101 of Starfleet and the Federation’s general amendment, which both state that the prisoner has a right to remain silent as may refuse interrogative matters, specifically when without legal representation. That being said,” she shifted her attention back to the Orion. “You might be under the custody of the Federation, but you are in the brig of a Starfleet station. This momentary inhibition might be the answer to your silence, now. However, I can assure you that this will not step any further.” Her words were not threatening, they were not cruel, they were blunt and informative.
She turned from him, “Major, a word?” She glanced at the Orion, “Alone.”
Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XOThough he outranks her, she is the Executive Officer. He raises up the forcefield. “Yes mam’ We can go to my office.” Decker informed the guard to remain while he and the XO walked across the hall to his office. He offered her a,seat at a small conference table.
Tyrell Decker COS
The Commander shook her head, seeing no reason in sitting, when it would be much easier to stand. “Major, have you spoken with the Federation about a legal representative regarding the Federation prisoner?” She inquired, trying to figure out just what they had the ability to do and what they couldn’t.
Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XOAt that time the door slid open and the figure of the civilian Police Chief came storming through the door. He walked right up to the conference table, slammed his fists onto the table top, and glared at Decker with a look that would make a bulkhead crack under pressure. “You son of a-… Are we gonna do this dance again, Decker? This how you want to start off our little working relationship here?” His voice was loud, his face was red with anger. “You know damn well you had no right… no right at all… coming at my prisoner.” and he cast a glare towards the XO. “You either, Fleet.” and he turned back to the Security Chief. “Do you have any idea what you just did? You don’t, do you? No. Because you… you don’t think first. You just react to what your gut says. You should know by now, Decker. Your gut is kind of an idiot.”
Pikelsimer, Police Chief
“Enough!” Omni shot a glance at Pikelsimer, “You might be the head of Police on this base, but this base runs on Starfleet protocol, and you have NO right to speak to anyone in that manner, Civilian. Am I clear?” There was a newfound command within her tone, “The Major made a wrong move, get over it. If you want to speak with him, regarding his actions, you are going to have to obtain a certain decency and respect for the people around you, Mister Pikelsimer. This place isn’t somewhere where you can run your mouth like a racehorse. If you demand answers, you first give that person the proper enviornment to return them.” It was hard to determine the emotion behind her words, which quickly changed once she shifted her attention to the Major. She wasn’t going to pay any heed to the raging Civilian Chief, seeing as his words were hardly warranting any respect or decency about his character.
Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XOPikelsimer turned his head slowly and looked directly at the XO. “Fleet, this may be a Starfleet installation, but last I checked Star Fleet answered to the Federation, not the other way around. And what the two of you just pulled is a direct violation of Federation, not Star Fleet, law. You two, both Star Fleet officers, tried to interrogate a CIVILIAN -” and his voice raise a few decibels, “- who was in Federation custody! Do you know how many civil rights violations, jurisdictional violations, prisoner welfare violations, and due process violations the two of you just racked up?” and he stood up and looked her squarely in the eyes. “I had this guy dead to rights on an assault charge, weapons possession, and warrant. I had multiple witnesses, a victim not too scared to testify, and video of the whole thing. And you two decided to question him without notifying the proper authorities, the agency who had him in custody, or the arresting officer. So now all of that will probably get thrown out the nearest airlock. All of this you pulled… violations of Federation law. But since you, Missy, seem to think Fleet overrides all this; let me ask you - ” and he shot a look at Decker, “and you… did you get permission from the CO to question a civilian without due process or legal representation? Seems like that would have been an appropriate Star Fleet regulation to check before you ruined my case, now wouldn’t it?”
Pikelsimer, Police Chief
“And you answer to both.” Omni narrowed her eyes, “If you wanted to keep this out of our hands, you should have transferred the prisoner to a higher-intensity prison, somewhere where it is intended for prisoners, not in the middle of Federation space on a recommissioned Station intended for Starfleet reconstruction of vessels rather than dealing with criminals on account charges that have nothing to do with the work we have here. Civilian, if you had every desire to prosecute this prisoner, your best shot would have been on Earth or an Outpost, not somewhere where the prisoner could escape if the wrong person wasn’t looking.” Omni then shook her head, “You have every right to be angry, but you’re not going to get a proper response by yelling and making yourself seem nothing more than a brutish fool,” She straightened her uniform, “Major Decker should have contacted the CO and the Terran agencies, to make them aware of what he intended to do, of course. I am acting only on what I was asked to do, Mister Pikelsimer. It was my fault for not looking into the proper authority upon accepting the Major’s request for my assistance within the realm of this prisoner.” She was growing more annoyed with this man, but it didn’t show on her features. She was aware that things should have been handled differently, but she wasn’t about to answer to a Civillian who could hardly keep a level head. Thus, she kept her voice low. “There is no reason for this to jeopardize your case, Chief. No questions were answered, as the prisoner withheld his rights in refusing to answer or speak to avoid self incrimination; he had no intentions to listen to the Major or I, prior to revealing himself to be of Federation custody, nor was any evidence obstructed or obtained without having proper authority. The only thing you have to ruin your case, is the count of a pair of Starfleet officers, overstepping, with no gain. Now, I doubt that is going to set it too far back.”
