Several seconds passed before Lt. Cmdr. Saunders’ personal badge beeped with an additional order:

=^=Lt. Commander, send a transmission to the USS Calypso. Have them know we will have to push back our rendezvous date.=^= There was a pause, indicating brief contemplation. =^=Additionally, attempt to open communications with the Bethrisian Counsel. They’re little meeting is going to have to wait.=^=

Aye, captain.” Saunders said as he worked the controls to send the message to the Calypso.

Several minutes later, per their proximity to the Calypso, a returned message came through the systems. “Sir,” a young comms officer glanced up from his station, “the Calypso has sent us a communique.” He waited to be given further orders.

“Receiving coordinates of the Calypso, captain.”

“Receiving the communique.” Saunders said.

“Transferring to centre chair, and Captain’s office.” Reported the Comms officer.

“The communique is coming through, sending to your station, sir.”

“Understood, Commander. Respond as you see fit.”

The communique was quite long as it was being received by the captain. Saunders was listening to it in case there would be a clue in it.

=^=USS Dauntless, this is the USS Calypso. We are sorry to hear of your incapacitation. If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be at the rendezvous point at 0900hrs, as promised. From then, we will wait four days while continuing conversations with the Bethrisian counsel.
